I didnt forget Cruyff. I left him out. Definitely one of the greatest though

>And why not Ronaldhino?

because I'm old enough to remember greater players..!! Brazil have produced so many sensational players, but the only one to come close to Pele was the late, great Garrincha.

no, Pele is the greatest.

others in the frame?
Pele once said George Best was the greatest- so that's good enough for me.
also Beckenbauer.
Cruyff.
Moore the best defender of all time.
Puskas, Di Steffano,
Duncan Edwards (if he had lived)

an impressive group - wouldnt really argue with any of that (although I think Baresi would give Moore a serious argument for 'best defender' - and as Beckenbauer was mostly a sweeper, isnt he a defender too? smiling smiley) , but I'd throw in Platini and Gerd Muller - the msot naturally gifted and prolific forward I've ever seen

Yes 'The Bomber', was certainly a great predatory goalscorer, similar to Jimmy Greaves (the best English forward of all time, imho).

b.t.w... one of the best biographies, i've ever read, and a truly heartbreaking and amazing lifestory, is that of Garrincha- a great book.

Ever noticed that Baresi looks like Keith?

Great players mentioned here. Have to add the genius of the modern football: Zidane. Don't know the connection with The Stones though. He's got the ability to see the whole field like Mick Jagger?

Surprised that you English boys haven't mentioned Bobby Charlton yet.
Mario Kempes the "other" great Argentine. Eusebio from Portugal was player of the year around '66, the year Charlton, Moore, Hurst took the cup to the UK.
Who else? Fritz walter. Someone mentioned books re football. Fritz Walter used to write these incredible books about his life that were great reading. especially the ones about '54 when they won in Switzerland.
Oh, and Rossi! Italy has givenn so many great players: Meazza,Rivera, Mazzola.

England- not the UK.
Our Scottish, Welsh and N. Ireland cousins have never been crowned World Champions.

Wow - Maradona looks good. I mean, compared to the last time I saw him, when he looked like a coked-up Jabba The Hutt. He looks 20 years younger now.

Maradona played in a huge pro-celebrity charity match at Old Trafford, 2 weeks ago, infront of 71,000 fans, in aid of UNICEF. (see photo, below)

It's alleged, he demanded 100,000 sterling, to put in an appearance.
Anyway, as you can see, he's lost weight, and appears healthy.
I watched the game on live tv, he scored a penalty, and still had the skills and magical ability, if not the speed.

Adrian, who is the player on the left of Moore? That is Hurst on right, no? Is the other one Peters?
