Hi folks,

just received the Saitama dvd which was aired on Japanese TV some weks ago.

man, I tell ya...what a superb quality...almost best available picture & soundquality...and the Japanese know how to place and act the cameras...as someone posted earlier on this board you have the feeling as if you are In the show...the view is like being FOS....and it is an superb arena gig indeed.

So all in all...if you have the oppurtunity to get this dvd...do not hesitate..it absolutly worth having it.

I just asked for it on the "HOT STUFF" section from this site.

A spanish Stones fellow, named Juan offered the dvd to me.
He is an OK guy....maybe you can ask him for a copie .

I posted previously, but I was in Tokyo when they broadcast it, and I was watching it sitting in a hotel room by myself on a crappy little TV. And I was just transfixed. With no cuts whatsoever, it felt like I was at the show; I almost waited until TPIE to go to the bathroom!!!

The camera work is just fantastic; and the B-Stage footage is the best that I have ever seen. I watched the B2B official DVD the other day, and I realized what a total joke it is compared to Saitama. It's amazing how the camera crew captures the feel of the show, and I love the fact that they have so many long shots of the entire band (no crazy jump cutting for MTV attention spans, like on the Toronto DVD). Maybe the Stones could hire this Japanese crew and truck them around Europe to film each show. Then, they could remix the sound for 5.1 (Mick could overdub as he'll probably insist on doing) and release the whole things as 21 Flicks or something like that.

That's nonsense, since the sound quality of the broadcast is superior to DAC-050!

Re: Saitama dvd is awesome....

DAC-50 is Tokyo, not Saitama as far as I know.

for Saitama, i think it's a special Edition from DAC

DAC-050 is the complete Japan tour (5 shows, 10 CDs).
I have both: DAC-050 and the audio from the Saitama broadcast. DAC-050 is great, excellent quality but in mono. The TV broadcast however is even better and in perfect stereo quality. So there's no need to mix the DAC-050 mono sound to the video - provided that you have a good stereo recording of course.

I've heard of a better audio recording of Saitama than the DAC release. What's the deal with this?Has any label released it?

I have been terribly underwhelmed with recent DAC issues, Hollywood Bowl in particular.

DAC-050 is great! The best release since a long time by far!

The Saitama show (stereo audio) is on the Rocks Off tracker.

I don't know.I have the first Tokyo '06 show on DAC silver cds and you can't hear half of the band. The sound works on a couple of songs like This Place Is Empty and Get Off Of My Cloud but,the majority of the other songs feel to me like they're missing something and they are : Richards' guitar (should be more audible). This particular version of Rough Justice (March 22,Tokyo) is awful.I've said it before,I'll say it again : For me,it takes more than clear vocals to make a good live cd.

Don't know about the DVD would love to see it! However, I have just heard the audio, now I don't want to get carried away but this really does roll back the years!! Everyone is on top of their game here! No Ronnie train wrecks on this, as I matter of fact I would say he is nothing short of suberb, his soloing on tumbling dice and sway is especially a real surprise. What does everyone think?

Funny how Ronnie's playing always suddenly improves on every decent recording. What a coincidence!

I loved this show, but let's not get carried away. His solo on SMU isn't great, but he makes up for it by running around the perimeter of the B-Stage like a maniac. I agree that Sway was great, as were his spots with Keith.

I loved the decision they made to place one camera in the audience around the B-Stage, so that they are filming over the first few rows of people. It really felt like you were there, looking up at the boys from a couple rows back. Brilliant!

Mr. Deeee will have the Goldmaster version with a menu for the RO tracker if you are willing to wait a few days.
