Ive heard some really good versions of this song live throughout my time. I think there is no better than when they played it on the 1981 tour.

What is the best version you've heard and what is the best bootleg version. Im looking to get a really good version of the song and I was hoping that someone could let me know which CD to buy.

Cheers

Love the versions from 78! Really more rock. ALso the Steel Wheels versions are good with the harmonica on it. But for me 78! Two great long versions on Handsome Girls.

Listen to the Buenos Aires 2006 boot (taken from the tv-broadcast I believe). That is one good Miss You especially bearing in mind that they're on the move. Pay special attention to Ronnie's part.

And of course the 78 tour.

Yes the 81 version is my favourite one. 78 also good. But I havent cared for any version after 81/82.

Sounds like a keyboard to me.

Yeah, it's Matt Clifford, who've sampled Sugar Blue's harmonica.

It is...Matt Clifford is playing it

The song has pretty much been a snooze fest and an excuse for a piss-break since 1982, with 1978 being the only versions I really like. The BTB one that seemed to drag on for about a week was the low point

It only made fleeting appearances on Licks and it wasnt that bad..a few versions I heard at shows I attended seemed a bit more stripped down that it had been and were reasonably enjoyable.

Nothing has ever touched the original version, though. The fact that the song has been played to death and so far removed from the studio version has made people overlook what a great song it actually was to begin with. Bill Wyman's finest hour IMO.

1978 without a doubt. 1997 better than the sampled harmonica during Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle, although 89/90 had lot's of great moments!

Agree with Gazza that people constantly underrate this song - at it's heart, it's a delicious bluesy number.

However, I'm disappointed that nobody seems to like the Flashpoint version - there's some really cool guitar work, fantastic vox, and an ass-kicking sax solo there!

I 'miss' Bobby's solo on it . . .

I prefer 1989/1990. Loved that version.

One of my favourite Stones songs, and the first one I remember hearing - at the age of 9. I was a fan from thereoin. So it's always great to hear it done live, like hearing from an old friend. That said, the 78 and 81-82 tour versions are the best to actually sit and listen to. They're still close to the song's original sleazoid spirit.

Every other tour version has been one long whooo-hooooo-ooooo-whooo karaoke. Even if I have been the one singing along the loudest.

Now, if only they'd play the whole of Some Girls, I'd be a Happy Mofo indeed.

I clearly prefer the 78 Memphis-Version. Fresh, exciting, perfect. Compare that to the tame "Flashpoint" track. Jagger has to do the falsetto parts himself. But nowadays...
