Is there going to be a Stones party? I hope it will be more successful than the Barcelona's one. Please please, parisian fans do organize a meeting... maybe in the historic center?

Why are there never any taxi's in Paris? Does the government/city legislate against taxi's?

Hi everyone.

I just wanted to say to 1cdog that there are loads of taxis in Paris (i kind of know as I live there). The best way to catch one is at one of the taxi stations or get the bar or restaurant where you are to phone one.
For those coming to Paris for the TWIS night you can contact me with any questions about travelling around, things to see etc. Maybe I could even show you round the place.

See ya all

Steffi

Dear Steffi,

Thanks for the reply.

Having to travel to a taxi station or having the restaurant you may be at call for you a taxi (therein is an automatic wait time) does not qualify in my book as there being "loads of taxi's" as you say. By your own definition you must go out of your way to get a taxi.

Paris is a great place and I love to visit. I came over after seeing the Clapton RAH shows and went to the 1st round matches @ French Open. My experience in every visit to Paris is that taxi's are hard to come by. Being a native though I am sure you know all the best ways to get a taxi.

To tell you the truth the best way to travel around Paris is not a taxi but the metro or walking. Even from the airports the best way is the RER as it takes about 50 minutes (a taxi generally takes longer) and only costs 8 euros each way (a taxi airport-paris costs around 50 euros from charles de gaulle and 40 euros from Orly).

Agreed......

If the weather is agreeable and you have the time the best way to see the city is to walk. Many great restaurants, shops and historical sites. I have found Paris easy to navigate by walking from place to place.

If you are in a hurry to get to the main tourist places quickly, there's always the tourist buses (2 companies if I remember rightly), you buy a 24 hour ticket then you can tour around and get on and off when you want to. The tickets cost around 20 euros but its worth it.

Anyway if anybody needs a hand travelling around Paris, I can always show you round.

Preparing for paris as we fly out of sunny birmingham <uk> obviously a bit sad not to see the greatest r & r band in the world in concert, so i will have to console myself with some of the fine sights on offer and a few bottles of wine/white rum and hopefully a few decent eating places in pareee.

Earlier in the week i recieved a e-mail from my ticket agency stating to hold onto your tickets etc,

and now just recieved another e-mail stating 'today it has been confirmed by official sources that all rolling stones tickets must be returned as soon as possible for a refund.

This is for paris, anyway ten minutes to go and get ready for paris i will be wearing my r-stones base ball cap and who knows might bump into some iorr peop[le.

Greetings from Paris

On Friday at Sous le bock. People had a great party there. I was not in the mood, I had too many beers. Yesterday at Some Girls Bar I met some nice people. But it was the day of concert...

(I am on Internet on TV at the hotel ....does not work so well.... ...)

Hi Everyone!

I know this is some way off and at least one of our heroes may cause another postponment by "Living The Legend" again LOL

Anyway on this thread:

Will other IORR posters and / or members be getting together pre the Cardiff Show?

If so it'd be good to meet up as I'm going Stone Alone!

Regards ALL,

Dean.

I was there too, but won't be going back for the rearranged date. Can't afford it, as simple as that.

Got to agree it's a great City. 1st time I have been, but I think that will be the 1st of many visits.

Top ice cream at Berthillon, mmmmmmmmmm.

Oily.

It was the first time for me and i will only go back if i manage to get a good deal on the hotel and unfortunately it will be for one night only as with most major cities found it on the expensive side.

Will definatly go back thou, so much to do & see and most of the parisians were very nice.

Yes, things are a bit costly, coffee and drinks soon add up, more so than in say Amsterdam.. But what a place. The weather was great too. It would have been perfect for the show. Hope it's the same for you for the rearranged one.
I think that the image of the brusque Parisian is a sterotype by and large.
Great fun. Paris and the Stones will be heaven!
Ah well, Sheffield and Twickenham to come :-)

Oily.
