european tour 06

the rolling stones will have to reorganize the whole european tour because of logistical troubles caused by the postponed june shows

the cant play the continent in july then go to the uk and come back to the continent
thats too expensive
so be sure to expect new dates for all the shows in europe 06

Is this just your guess or is it based on trustworthy news?
Honest, I can't see the point of cancelling/postponing sold out shows, if they are able to play. There's no reason to make more damage than already done.

this is not a guess this is a fact
thats the reason why they havent announced a location and date for the kick off yet

??? What logistic problem? They will start, let's say in Nuremberg, and then continue the scheduled tour from there on. The postponed will be rescheduled or be gone forever.

You may be right of course, but it doesn't sound logical to me. Many, many thousands of ticketholders are affected by the postponed gigs. Why postpone even more gigs, if Keith health is OK and the band are ready to play? Keep the confirmed dates, and try to make room for the postponed shows - that sounds logical to me.

But they might exchange the shows that are not selling well for the ones postponed

have a look at the tour dates!

its logistically absolutely nonsense to play portugal and spain on august 12 - 16
then go to the uk and then go back to play barca and madrid
it is way cheaper to stay in spain

The Stones can play Portugal and Spain in September or October. Where is the problem?

I can´t see your logistic problem.

its not the question if they can do that
yes they can do that but mick jagger doesnt waste money in shipping his stage from spain to uk and back

Re: european tour 06
Date: May 27, 2006 22:05

They've done it before, haven't they?It definitely won't go as smoothly as they originally hoped but,now it is what it is.What better options are there?

The european tour won't take place, at least this summer.

It doesn't matter. They would have done the same. Original tour schedule: Spain in June and Spain in August. Costs are the same: Spain August, Spain September. I don't know what this is all about. Barcelona as final show.. Why not?

(sad day... I would be in Barcelona now.. as many others here.)

In 2003 they played in the Netherlands, then went to Great Britain then played one show in Belgium then played in Britain again and in Irleand and came back on the continent.

the european tour will take place this summer, then they will play a short us arena tour and then the rolling stones will end their career with a show in msg and one in london earls court

What's the financial problem? Too expensive to use the tunnel? Or the ferries?
You have to transport the equipment to and from Scandinavia by ferry. What's so unique with the UK?

no it's not. there are multiple sets and the mainland is not far from the UK; closer than going from one side of the US to the other, and much easier than getting to australia from anywhere. anything is possible, but to say it can't happen is bs.

If it's all about money, glimmer twin missed something. When you postpone a concert, 30% of the audience ask for a refund, just because they can't do it at the new date, or they are tired of the mess, or anything else.
And you have to find 30% of new customers, in a very short time, in the worst period of the year.
Another thing is that when you move a show date, you probably have to pay some compensations. I'm not involved in music business, but it sounds logical.

Sure they will loose much more money for each show they will be forced to postpone, than for transporting the stage from mainland to UK.

well if i might be wrong i would be very happy but dont forget that the most expensive thing about touring is the logistical effort you have to deal with
and maximum 5 % of the people dont visit a postponed show not 30 %

When the show is postponed from june to september?..... Sorry, i'm very doubtfull. I know a lot of people from the french message board who won't be able to postpone their plans, much more than 5% of the board. And we talk about fans who would sell their blood to see the Stones on stage, not ordinary customers. In a lot of companies or public services, you have to plan your vacations a long time in advance, it's not so easy to move them.

i dont know what you are talking about
for sure in this forum hardcore fans of the stones discuss and i am sure that you jumpinjackflash59 are a hardcore fan and that you have a lot of friends that love the stones and travell with them on tour BUT in an audience oh 50 000 people for example only maximum 1000 people travell with the band the rest are local people and some people from the area near to the venue
or do you think 30 000 people travell with the stones on a tour ?????????

Thats Right and they will definitely be using the Super Bowl Tongue stage when they come back to the US.

If coming back to the US is prior to play the postponed dates in
September - the Stones will lose a l o t of reputation here in Europe.

i love how people believe thier own theorys as gospel and try to make everyone else think that.
they think they know more than the band themselves.

I remember last year the "sources" were swearing they would open every show with HTW

This internet makes everyone an "insider"
When they are just some dude behind a keyboard making up stories

They don't even have a date set for the start of the European tour and people are wondering about USA shows. This tour took years in the planning and may take more than a few weeks to plan all new dates. This isn't some local band riding around in a van and can make up cancelled dates the next night. They may have to wait to see how Keith is doing before they even do some real planning.

That's why all the news leaks out from other sources first too.
You can't just re-arrange the whole tour in half an hour and post it on RS.com.

All the arrangements have to individually worked out and agreed. Individual promoters then can't keep their big mouths shut because they want to start...errmm...promoting.

OK. Hummmmm. Well think of this then: If they play all the Euro gigs, as they said they would, then the tour gross would end on being 95% the same as it would without the cancellations.
