When the wind blows and the rain feels cold with a head full of snow with a head full of snow In the window there's a face you know Don't the night pass slow? Don't the night pass slow?
Sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind Just another mad, mad day on the ro-oad I am just living to be lying by your side But I'm just about a moonlight mile, on down the road
Made a rag pile of my shiny clothes Gonna warm my bones, gonna warm my bones I got silence on my radio Let the air waves flow, let the air waves flow For I am sleeping under strange strange skies Just another mad, mad day on the road My dreams is fading down the railway line I'm just about a moonlight mile down the ro-oad-woad
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm riding sister and I'm dreamin' I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm riding sister and I'm dreamin' I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm riding down your moonlight mile Let it go now, come on up baby Yeah, let it go now, yeah come on now baby Say Yeah, I'm coming home 'cause
I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road on down the road, down the road yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah baby ahhh
Please read the lyrics and think about their meaning , and the just tell me it's a ballad
Thanks for posting the lyrics for him to see, Boston
This is probably my favorite ballad of theirs, better than any other one. I think it's sad in that it evokes such powerful feelings about such strong positive emotions - you empathize with the sentiment of being away from the one you love, and realize that the sentiment of "just being a moonlight mile down the road" is symbolic of your emotional connection with that individual.
A long while ago I mentioned a "catharsis combonation" that I would listen to when I was in a slump, and even though the songs were sad, they helped me flush out all the bad emotions:
1. Moonlight Mile 2. Love In Vain - the Stripped version is the best one of this, I think 3. I Am Waiting - Used perfectly in the film, Rushmore 4. No Expectations 5. I Got The Blues 6. 100 Years Ago 7. Fool To Cry 8. Till The Next Goodbye 9. Blinded By Rainbows 10. Winter 11. Lady Jane
On a related note, has anyone heard Jagger's, Too Far Gone? I think it's a really good one too that I've only started to like recently
Some of these are positive songs, but they kind of bring up a nostalgia, or remind you of some things. Whenever I listen to Moonlight Mile, two very specific memories come to mind
Ya know, I know every word to Moonlight Mile, (i know every word to every song on Sticky Fingers) but thanks for the lyrics post anyway. Still not seeing quite how it counts as a "sad" song though, in the vain of songs like Love in Vain or Almost Hear You Sigh.
