I have been told that a version of this song exists which was basically a Keef blues tune. Would anyone be willing to share it with us? I have never heard it.
Yes I too have heard about it, But the bad part is that I heard about it in a Keith interview. Where he is telling us about the original cut. That is supposedly a lot better. I wish I had heard about it on one of my boots LOL.
"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."
This is one song that I was embarassed to play for friends when the album came out because I took a lot of crap for the Stones going techno. But I would imagine if they didn't kill the song with the cheesy effects it could have been pretty cool.
I actually dug the version on the album, but for different reasons. Its something you throw in the disc tray when the lights are low and everyone's getting restless.
I do know for a fact that it exists and is basically just Keith strumming it out with a very raw guitar tone. I'll find it eventually.
VH1 aired a snippet of the original version of the song (not the techno mix) while The Stones were seen driving over the Brooklyn Bridge for the Bridges press conference in 1997. It sounded great, although it was only about 15 seconds. I was mortified when I heard the version on the CD. A nice companion to "The Storm" and a forerunner to "Back of My Hand."
there's the 10-minute version that floats around on many boots. I'm not a techno-music type - but this song is the absolutely BOMB for me....luv it in every way, shape, form.
I like the B2B version too, and agree the album's underrated - their most adventurous since Satanic, or Black & Blue at least - I don't fault them for trying new things that interest them, if they work. After all they did drop the Babyface track in the incinerator....I suspect there are outtakes & alternates galore of these sessions, but after the (boot) release of all the Voodoo material, security took a big priority....
I love B2B. I don't care what anyone says. I listened to it start to finish last night and although some songs are better than others, it was very listenable.
