How can they reschedule?
Posted by: shedooby ()

Let's be realistic; let's say that about 6 shows have to be rescheduled,
and they don't wanna play two nights in a row, the only option is between Cologne and Amsterdam and some other night.
You can't play outdoors in Europe late September right, so it seems to me
that some shows must be cancelled..

It's a logistic nightmare anyway, think about it; stadiums have to be free,
the trucks, the people, hotels, etc..

what do you think?

You can play outdoors in Europe late September without any problems. In southern Europe you can even play in October. And don't forget that there are still two unconfirmed dates in Spain in August (Cadiz and Zaragoza) so they can easily replace them with two cancelled Spanish gigs. They can do the same with unconfirmed Lyon show, replacing it with Paris so they'll be playing at Stade de France twice in a row (Jun 29 and Jul 2). There's still roumored show in Belgrade which, if there's a need, could be replaced with another show. The problems may appear if they decide to postpone more than 6-7 shows.

Bv said outdoor shows is impossible mid-August in Northern Europe.
I have opposed that. At least till 15th-20th September is average-wise
ok since late 1980s. When I was young, freezing nights came early in September in Mid-Sweden.
But we're talking south here, and we all know about global warming.
If there will be any more ABB at all, is another story. Let's hope so.

Any thoughts about rescheduling are useless as long
as doctors do not give green lights to Keith. It all
depends on that.

I think he and his family must give green lights too.
The doctors certainly wont give any lights whatsoever.

You can play outdoors in late September in Spain and France, for sure. Northern Europe is a bit more of a problem (perhaps not so much Brussels), but they may be able to squeeze those shows between those already scheduled in July and August.

I repeat; till mid-September you can play any venue
in Norway, Sweden och Denmark from Oslo and Stockholm or southwards.
I wouldnt play St. Petersburg then though.

For what it's worth (just being into rs dot com)
I also want to repeat what is stated there:

The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang European tour" will begin in June with details to follow shortly.

Oh, Lord; Please make this a true statement.

Although TouTough = right; it's no use to think about it until doctors and family give green light (but Keith = very stubborn 2), let's hope 7 see..

as the tour is currently scheduled to end on August 29th, rescheduling a couple of shows is hardly going to take them anywhere near "late september"

Ok maybe Paris on June 30. Barcelona and Madrid on June 2 and June 4. And Bruxelles after Cologne.

The best solution, but What means start in June?

And it makes no sense. Only 4 days delay.. but if insurance and doctors say so.

No chance of a start on June 2nd

what would be the point of postponing a show on 3rd June until the 30th if hes fit enough to play that early - which he almost certainly wont be.

The earliest show that has a CHANCE of taking place is Bergen, although I personally think thats optimistic

The Stones played Foxboro in Massachusetts in mid-October of 1997 and I can't imagine our weather is much different from Northern Europe, is it? It was a cold night and of course it's always a huge risk being outdoors( which is why I HATE buying tickets to outdoor shows) but the show went on and it was awesome!Gazza is right, I am betting on a mid-June start at the earliest.Unfortunately, a few shows may be cancelled and not rescheduled. I wonder what this all does to the USA dates for autumn.

If they can play Edmonton in mid-October they can play pretty much anywhere in Europe in September!

weather isnt really the issue, Debra. Availability of football stadiums from september onwards is a problem...and those venues are used a lot more often than football stadiums would be in the US

the longer the Euro tour gets postponed the less the chance there is of US shows later this year. It should still happen ok, but who knows - after all Keith has been through, it might be a bit much for him to stay on the road until the end of the year with only a 3-4 week break after Europe

If the *** promoter has exceptional news of a very speedy recovery, I will bet my 50c on a start in July. As it was pointed so many times here, the logistics is so tremendous an issue, you can't work on postponing shows all the way goin'. Start beginning July is in fact only 8 weeks after all.

Re: How can they reschedule?

There are football stadiums with roofs and heating. Copenhagen Parken has these facilities for example. Depeche Mode has played - and G. Michael will play here during Winter months. As far as I know Parken is not the only one with these facilities.

No, I oppose. I work partly with weather studies.
Check the statistics. First weeks in September are safe.
At least 15-20 degrees celcius plus a red-hot rock'n'roll
audience (thruout the 90s we've had heat waves up to 30 degrees
until mid-September).

And look what's written about Edmonton above.

Rain is a risk everywhere; but I wouldnt say early September
is a rainy period here. In that case July is the worst month
among these. Last July we were in Göteborg & it rained dogs & cats
or whatever the Brits call it (elephants & mammooths?).

And don't forget the dark evenings instead of midnight-sun.

Better for rock'n'roll. To much pale Eddie Meduza-wannebee-
or E-type-vibrations in those brite nites.
