Other countries: 1.- The Rolling Stones. 2.- The Beatles (In this one, also counting solo Beatles). 3.- David Bowie. 4.- The Who. 5.- Gasolin'.
America: 1.- Nirvana. 2.- Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground. 3.- Tom Waits. 4.- Guns 'n Roses. 5.- On this spot it's an equal between many of the roots musicians. Robert Johnson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash etc. etc.
I am embarrassed to have forgotten Tom Waits, Elvis, Talking Heads & all of the country musicians I love (Waylon, Hank, Cash,GP, etc). I will now self-immolate (look it up, it's nothing like you think it is, sicko).
Americhan: The Ramones, CCR, The New York Dolls, Iggy & The Stooges, The Replacements, Mc5..............U.K.: The Stones, The Who, Mott The Hoople, The Faces, The Kinks, The Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath
Richard! He's da man (I think). Just ask him! He'll tell ya!
BTW, the old Tic Toc club that he started in has re-opened as a resturant. If you ever get a chance to visit Macon, it's loaded with musical history - Richard, Otis, James Brown (born there, lives in Augusta & state prison), Allman's, R.E.M., etc. Georgia Music Hall Of Fame is worth a visit.
