Important! Time to clean up your posts
Posted by: bv ()
Date: May 8, 2006 20:21

Within a short time now I will delete every user on the IORR board who made any offensive posts. There will be no warnings. If I see any posts that is personal to others on IORR or offensive in language or otherwise breaking the policy on IORR this person behind the post will be banned permanently and will not be allowed to post on IORR anymore.

There is one simple way to avoid being banned. Either be nice and follow the policy. Or if you already posted something that might offend others or break the policy language wise or personal wise feel free to use the "Edit post" under your own post.

If you wrote offensive and someone quoted your offensive post then you can not edit the quotes so that will be your problem of course. That is life.

Cleaning up means both taking away something you posted yourself as well as taking away anything you copied from others by quoting something that is offensive. So if somebody used bad language and made ofensive and personal coments about others, and you quoted that post, it is now time to edit that quote so that the offensive bit is not in there anymore. I don't really care who started and who repeated the offense. Just commenting or repeating or fighting back on an offense is an offense in itself of course. Ignore any offense. report it by the link under efery post.

I will give everyone a very small amount of time to think twise and clean up, because I don't really have time to clean up after others. When I check back in an hour or so I will start checking and closing out people. And please do not send any e-mail. I will only look at what is left on the IORR board. Seing is believeing. Clean up your posts or you will be history on IORR. Thank you.

IORR Editor & Moderator

You don't have to eliminate me, bv.
When I see all these **** on here, I leave without any regret.
You will have problems concerning your forum in future, but I don't mind.

I love the Stones, Keith and their music.

Keep your setlist, face value and all other moaners, while Keith is fighting for his life. But don't count on me.

Regards,
Tom (aka micawber)

P.S. I hate censorship anyway. Bye!

Tried to cancel my account, but couldn't find any possibility. So Mr. Editor & Moderator, feel free.

Best wishes to Keith.

I love the Stones their music and the Shows they do.
But the last few years I did not take this board serious
their is just to much crap and are to much non-Stones
related topics around here.

So it's about time to shake clean this board.

I hope I will spent more quality time here
when this, once so highly recommended, board
is clean.

~ keep up the good work......

I must say that I agree with this.

Myself, I have obviously had some problems that you were all aware of, but I have to admit I was acting stupid. Luckily, Bjornulf has given me a second chance, and actually a small third, and I intend to follow this policy from now on, and I strongly encourage others to do the same. You all know I like the occasional joke, and a lot of other members do too, but there's a difference between having a laugh and just posting plain nonsense and rudeness(and I have experience with that).

Too much sick and dumb people here, sorry.
I long for being eliminated, as I can't do it myself.

Well, I think my time has come, if bv "cleans up".
I spoke out what I thought today. Offensive?
Not as much as some of you. If someone calls me twat
or anything else I just want to be able to answer.

Btw: This is one of the worst days in my life, believe me. I was unable to listen to Stones music since these breaking news of today. I´m shocked, angry and sad. Where to put it but HERE? For those who maybe read my post from yesterday (the big one in the hospital thread) know how I really feel.

Those who know me personally know that I am a big Stones fan. This board was my starting page, every day.

See you somewhere on tour, only God and Keith know where.

I agree completely with you Bjornlf. Personal attacks should not be allowed. But I do have a problem right now. I am quite sure that sometimes I have responded to an offensive post, and probably I have quoted the offensive post, to make sure that everybody knew what I was talking about :-(

Rolling Hansie,
if you want to edit those offensive quotes you mentioned, go to the search by author page and type in your name.
You'll see all your previous posts.

Dear BV, I went around and did what I could. As you know there's a lot of very strong emotions on here because this is a very serious situation and different people approuch it from different angles. Some feel sorry for Keith, Some are mad at him, some are in the middle. This is a great website and I'm on here a lot but it's because you're cool enough to let people vent a bit - TO ACT HUMAN. Everybody says some strong things but it's not really real - it's just words - nobody's gonna get physical and start a fight - at least not me, I don't take these comments to heart. Besides one guy that annoys me a bit I have good feelings towards everyone. In English we say,"Don't fix it if it isn't broken" so how about everybody just relaxes and you don't kick off a bunch of people - it will probably ruin the good balance on here. Really BV, I'm worried, this is a VERY American style of behaviour and you're a European. So from one Northern European (mix) to another how about not copying the bad Ameican Habits with censorship everywhere and just keep it a bit liberal as any true, good European should...Next thing you know is they'll start having McDonalds all over Norway. Please relax and think about it. We all need to relax. So be the good guy you are and don't ruin a success. Have a few beers (or more), I'll replace them when I meet you someday. OK? Please think about it..Micawber already wants to leave, this is not good BV, think about it please....

That's very kind of you, MicksBrain, but I dont want to stay. Way too american for me, Debra, CindyC, censorship. My whole life is a fight against that, and as I'm german, I have to deal with what we did in the past, for my whole life. I don't wan't to see that come up elsewhere. Even if it already did.

That's why I have to leave, and I'll do it in the next minutes.

Bye, pal.

This has got to be the longest goodbye in IORR history. As Dan Hicks so eloquently sang, "how can I miss you if you won't go away."

What's an offensive post anyway? What one person considers being offensive may not be offensive according to someone else. Are we allowed to use the real names of certain Stones songs or are we supposed to use euphemistic writings like Schoolboy Blues and Star Star? On the other hand, the IORR policy that we're not permitted to posting political issued is OK with me since it always gets really nasty after only a few posts with comments about Bush, Blair and the Pope being this and that. If you feel like deleting posts I would concentrate on the utterly stupid ones, i.e "John Lennon says Macca is the best piano man in the world" and total bollocks about that McCartney should replace Jagger etc. That's the kind of meaningless comments I would definitely not miss on this board.

I find it very ironic that you claim to be against censorship, yet you tried to shut everyone up earlier when they were saying things that you didn't agree with.

It's pretty wierd that ONE person make all these bizarre Beatles-threads here, isn't it?
Where's the kick for him in doing that?

AH Micawber, I understand how you feel - I can not stand censorship either, it's always the first step to a very horrible controlling government and that's what's happening now in America. We need aware people like you who knows how this happens. You're one of the many good guys on here.I'm sure BV is very upset today too and is being a bit too emotional. TooTough has been pretty emotional and angry from the news and sorry if some one disagrees but I agree with TooToughs comments. We're all emotional and the best thing to do is just relax and not do anything strong right now. It's never smart to do things when emotions are super high. My Girl Friends Father sold his Mothers house right after she died because he was so upset he wanted to get rid of it and sold it at 50% less then he could have - all because of emotions.High Emotions are dangerous - let's all relax. The tour will go on, just a bit late. The worst is over.

The problem with manners here is that people are so passionate about the Stones. I know I'll get ribbed for this but every single time I see the Stones live or a DVD show, when Keith appears on stage through a plume of fireworks and smoke playing the first few bars of the shows opener I always cry. It's not soppy, I'm a very hard man with a harder life. But for me that moment always hits a nerve. And I for one will be a very very sad man when it's all over.
LONG LIVE THE ROLLING STONES.

I don't believe I am one of the targets of the prospective purge - tried to keep my comments clean (with the exception of a few "damns" used for emphasis here and there) and to avoid any kind of name-calling - but I must say there are very few things I abhor more than censorship. I love this site and those like Bjornulf who put in hours of their time to keep it online definitely have the right to run it as they see fit, but I would hate to see some people booted for saying something untoward. There are many comments I saw today that I do not agree with and even find somewhat distateful, but the real test of one's commitment to freedom of speech is whether you are willing to defend someone's right to say the things you most disagree with.
