Scandinavian warm up acts - wish list
Posted by: shidoobee ()

Why don't we give the Stones -Management a clue on which warm up acts they should concider in Scandinavia?! We know best, right? So, come on, help Michael Kohl & The Gang find the best possible acts to open up for The Stones. We want to hava a party from the first song by the warm up band.
For Norway: June 6th, Bergen: The DumDum Boys. Denmark, Horsens June 8th???
Sweden, Gothenburg June 10th??? Come on Vikings! Drop some good band names here.

Oh no, not Gasolin... They sucked terribly. Please take this seriously. Suggest GREAT SCANDINAVIAN warm up acts. (That means, not Carola, not Kim Larsen, and certainly not Gasolin!)

Hey Shido dude watch yer tongue; hear the Vikings and their allies
swirl their switchblades... :0)
Seriously there will be no Gas: but keep yer sour words for yerself.
Cant be any greater than that. Fact, not opinion.

When it comes to subjective "science" like band preferances... There are no facts, only opinions, baby. And I'm not a dude, I'm a sheila!

It would be great to have Madrugada in Bergen Norway, but they have said the Stones are old, silly and wasted so I don't think it will happen. And as Bergen is sold out completely, we will probably have somebody who is playnig for free, just to be there.

Some pink sunglasses-wishes:
Gnags in Horsens. TSOOL or Dag Vag in Göteborg.

Gasolin´would be a dream come true, for a opener in Horsens. For Gothenburg..I don´t know, don´t really like swedish music, I prefer my little english band from Dartford over anything. But AC/DC is on my top 5 list of alltime favorites, but it´s been done. And last time they visited Sweden, they headlined at Ullevi, great gig!

I'd go for New Barbarians, just like Canada 1979. Now, THAT would be a grand opener!

Well they have played Sympathy for the devil and Sister morphine on their concerts. I believe that they say things like that to keep a tough image

The soundtrack of our lives is a great swedish band. Give them a chance

I've talked to the singer Sivert, and he really likes Stones as they were in the 70s. But he DON'T like their recent work, nor their gigantic concerts or their business-style. He loves Sticky Finers, Exile and that stuff.

The Soundtrack Of Our Lives are from the same parts of Gothenburg as me, but I still don´t like them very much. The "Don´t like swedish music" rule, you know smiling smiley

A lot of bands have told the world that they will stop after some years. The history says it ain`t that easy. If it`s not desagreement or someone who pass away it will be a good chance that Madrugada also will play for a long, long while. But hey, I allow him to say what he want and think. ( that was not a perfect argument against Sivert and Madrugada).

Hm...What about Whale? Do they exist anymore?

The Soundtrack of our lives opened for the Stones in Stockholm 1998.
According to the organizer it's impossible to show the soccer game at the big screen because of soundcheck and other preparations.
That means that the crowd stays at bars and hotels longer than usual for watching the game, I suppose.

Hi Tussler! Yes, I get your point!
But then again Sivert really admire some other old folks like Cash, Tom Waits and Dylan.
There's not any other than Stones who keep doing the "full-throttle-shows" that Stones do, for so many years. Some people don't like them nowadays, but they can be great a person otherwise.... while some of us "get it".

BV wrote something in the direction of: Madrugada think Stones are silly and old...
Well, I know the guitarist well. Robert Roerlie is a Stones fan. We attended a Stones gig at the MSG in NY together on January 18th 2003, and when we meet the first question is standard: How many Stones shows have you seen lately??? He just loves Keith, and claims he's been heavily inspired by our man. Yes, Madrugada is a great band! They played in the back yard of my appartment building two years ago... Even the elderly ladies, of 72 and 79, living just across the yard, loved them. At 2 in the morning. And it was LOUD. Nobody called the police.

Yeah, no Hives.

Whale wouldnt probably be around; this is too tough for them anyway.

I like the side-projeckt to Madrugada-guitarist. My Midnight Creeps. Pherhaps they could be a good opening act.

Mr Stone-tussler; could ya mail me some Madrugada samples or links maybe?

For those who havent discovered TSSOL Extended Revelation is a fine starter.

How about Lars Wennerbäck? Probably spelled his name incorrectly, but heard some of his stuff. He's good. And Nina Person. And The Hives. They're all wearing far too small suits, but what the .... I've only got two Gasolin albums, somewhere in the attick, along with other not so great buys. Like Kim Larsen solo. And old Norwegian stuff like Prudence. This stuff's got value in the collector's section. Think I'll get rid of it. But I'll never sell a Stones-record.

Winnerbäck, pretty close. Not a personal fav of mine but would worth at Ullevi.. ? [www.winnerback.net]
Nina & Cardigans would also work. Hives is just bubblegum imitators imho.
Larsen solo would make me puke.

Hey; Hurriganes is still around (but only drummer left)!
