According to the latest news from Multiplex Group, Wembley will open in September 2006....

The big question is then: will Stones perform in the arena in September this year?

if thats the case, they might be able to stage the 5 Robbie Williams concerts there which have been scheduled for that month and which have not as yet been rescheduled for another venue

and no, theres no chance of the Stones playing there in September for several reasons. Theyve already avoided a lot of hassle by having the foresight to book Twickenham for the same dates in August and theres no need to change again. Additionally, the way Multiplex have screwed this operation up so far, who's to say there wont be another delay? At this late stage, anyone would be foolish to depend on them.

Plus, the Stones will probably be on the road in the US again from late September or so, so it would mean no proper break for them after the European tour if they extended that leg.

Now, also the Robbie Willams concerts have been moved (to Milton Keynes).
No events at Wembley Stadium until next year.

why don't the Stones play Milton Keynes?

a) Twickenham is far more convenient to London. Milton keynes is about 50 miles outside of London

b) Milton keynes Bowl is all standing. With the Stones' Wembley shows being all seated, its easier to reallocate the tickets to another stadium .

Given the choice, I'm sure Bon Jovi, Take That and Robbie Williams would have preferred to have relocated to Twickenham - however the stadium only permits 3 shows per year and as the Eagles are playing there next month and the Stones had the foresight to get a permit for 2 shows as a back up in case Wembley wasnt ready, those other acts didnt have that opportunity

I was going to say something similar (ie, "its in the arsehole of nowhere") , but I was a bit uncharacteristically reticent about offending anyone who lived there.....

Bollocks!

Milton Keynes is a @#$%& great venue! one of my favourite in the country - no possible way of getting seating in there. it's simply more rock n roll than the staid twickenham.

Get all your areses there on June 3rd for the 'Monsters of Rock' festival - Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Thunder, Ted Nugent, Queensryche, Journey - Yeah!

LETS GET ROCKIN!!!!
