It is Spector, Pitney, Jagger and Oldham a little.

LOL - I was hoping you weren't talking about Gene Pitney when you asked that question. I figured you knew at least that

yeah, no kidding Bro - Gene Pitney (love & light)
i've never heard of ALO being one of 'em, but Spector indeed seems to be.
(have you checked who nzentgraf.de lists?)

I think it might have been on Nico's that I read about ALO. In the old days I alwasy thought it was all Jagger and Oldham. The learned better but did read that towrds the end ALO himself pipes in.

It's Jagger and Phil Spector, with two of the Hollies (Allan Clark and that nice Graham Nash) on backing vocals.

Pitney is on the recording but as far as I know, he's only on piano.

thanks Gazza - that is indeed what nzentgraf says too. i was sure Pitney was singing as well, but okay! apparently not.
i also think i remember ALO saying the only Stones recording he's on is HYSYMB SITS (he's one of the vocals fattening up the guitar intro),
but i'd clearly better leave the thinking to somebody else tonight. good night, folks. :E

I wouldnt be surprised if Pitney is singing on the song either, but the other lead vocal is definitely Phil Spector.

Thank ya Gary, always ;0P 'British correct'.
Absolutely thankful beyond comparison for yer answer!
Thus Clark-Nash-Spector and maybe Pitney.
I tell my netless friend, who wondered this.

.......Now to another Q; which may not deserve an own headline:
Where would the Live Everyday Workplace Sound in the beginning
of She's A Rainbow on albumversion on Satanic Majesties come from?

Sounds plausible enough. Any more suggestions?

It's Gene Pitney as the main singer and then Spector and Jagger trade off in the middle of the song in their cockney? accents. Clark, Nash, Oldham are singing background.

Have to add Andrew there as well, I reckon.

If anyone could post some source here I would be most delighted.

if thats Gene Pitney on the first lead vocal, he would never have got a record contract

Pitney as he is now would still have more of a tune in his head than Spector

Spector with a cockney accent??? dont think so

In the book The First 20 Years by David Dalton, it lists the lyrics and and breaks down the sections with Spector and Jagger conversing back and forth.
Bill's book talks about the song briefly but doesn't go into much detail. I also recall reading a few other Stones books which talk about Gene Pitney singing Andrew's Blues. Unfortunately, I've never heard any Gene Pitney songs so I don't know what he sounds like.
