Great thread for us Ronnie fans.

I have put Ron's acoustic version of Jealous Guy from John Lennon’s 60th birthday tribute show on Hot Stuff for everyone.

I just want to thank Gazza for being the ONLY one here to agree with me. I KNOW he toured with The Stones in '75, but as I constantly stated, he wasn't officially unveiled as Mick Taylor’s replacement 'till 1976. You see? That = 30 years!

When I saw the pictures I thought: THE GENERAL SURGEON WARNS....

But I wonder how complicated some people on this board can be: For me, Ronnie joined the Stones back in 1975 and hs been a member ever since, may he have been loaned, paid a salary or officially been declared as a band member. All the fans felt like this and when I saw the Stones back in 1976 for the first time it was clear for everybody that Ronnie was a normal band member. Nobody then believed that he would quit in a near future.

And still, the controversy between the Taylor and the Wood fans seems ridiculous to me. It would of course have been a great idea to invite Mick Taylor at least for some concerts of their last tour(?) as an additional musician. But what has that to do with Ronnie?

my sentiments exactly. the boy's a natural-born Rolling Stone

- 1975, by either Leibovitz or Sykes

On the 1975 tour he was a 'guest' - as were Ollie Brown and Billy Preston. Ronnie was still in the Faces when he did that tour and even did a US tour with that band AFTER the Stones American tour ended

Thats because he WAS a band member by the time the '76 tour started. He became a Rolling Stone officially on 28.2.76 when it was publicly announced as such. The 'shareholder' question is a side issue which is only relevant for financial purposes. Ronnie joined the Stones in 1976. His presence on the cover of Black and Blue is indication that he was a band member by the time of its release.

the story I remember reading pertaining to that picture was that Woody was very anxious and upset during the rehearsals where he was under pressure to learn alot of new songs quickly. The pic speaks to it well....

Ron Wood's the best! He should even have his own talk show. Now that would be funny to watch. winking smiley

yes, it's in the Stones on Tour book that the photo's from.
the story about Keith and Ron planting land mines around the premises is pretty good too - and about equally true. :E

I'm kind of shooting from the hip here, so bare with me please, but from looking at Ronnie's eyes in that photo, I'm thinking he's been doing a little more than just learning some new songs in the studio that night.
