30 Years Of Ronnie
Posted by: Big Al ()

Maybe I completely missed the thread, but has no one here remembered that Ronnie has been an official member of the Stones for 30 years now?

>> Ronnie has been an official member of the Stones for 30 years now? <<

... counting from what date?
Ronnie's first performance with the Stones was of course may 1975 (the flatbed truck), so it's nearly 31 years now by that reckoning.
but he was formally made a fully-fledged official member in 93, no?

I'd have a limb chopped off to be able to spend one minute in that pre-show room in 1975.

Don't be a smart arse. Listen, Ronnie was ON LOAN from The Faces in '75. In 1976 he was an actual member with his mug on the back-cover of Black & Blue.

That’s the way I view it and without getting all geeky and technical about it, I'd of thought most would agree.

I would NOT call Ron "on loan" in 1975.

Getting back to what sssoul stated about Ronnie not been a fully fledged member until '93, he's to the extent that he was on a wage 'till that point, but he was still a member. That's why, up until that point, he’s paint when the Stones weren’t touring because he wasn't earning any money from them, but come on! Lets everyone just go along with my initial post, eh? It's a waste of a thread otherwise!

LoFL - what's bitin Big A?? some might consider it "geeky and technical" to claim Ronnie wasn't a Stone in 75, but why get rude about it??
and Farawayeyes2, i believe that shot's in that new Genesis book of Sykes's photos from the 75 tour -
maybe someone who's ordered it will post a larger version someday.

ronnie has been a stone longer than bill was, bill left in 91 not 93
like everyone says , his last note as a stone was on high wire in 91
just cause he announced his resignation in 93 does not mean any thing
his last work was in 91 so it was a total of 31 years, ronnie has him beat by some months now

Bill resigned in from the Stones in 1993, so, he was a ROLLING STONE 'TILL 1993. It does'nt matter one bit that his last work was with them in 1991.

The Stones were not active in the studio in the years of '92 and '93. By your logic, Mick and Keith were not members then!

Okay then. Actually, is Bill even on Highwire? I always thought it was Ronnie Wood. In which case, he left after the Wembley show in 1990.

You CANNOT DENIY THIS THOUGH. HE LEGALLY CEASED TO BE A STONE IN 1993. That is, as you said, when he resigned.

Take it easy girls! Let's settle this little dispute of ours.
Fact #1 Ronnie Wood became a full member of The Rolling Stones in 1991.

Fact #2 Ronnie does a fine job with his axe these days like he's always done. Forget about Mick Taylor. Taylor was great in the past, but unfortunately he's become a lard-ass who wouldn't fit playing for he Stones in the 21th century. I suppose you can't imagine a fat alcoholic who's all real sweaty and staying in the same spot for a complete show, can you.
Rock'n'Roll was never intended to be about playing them boring and extended solos. Taylor didn't play no bum notes people keep on bitchin' about all the time. You ain't realized that rock music has nothing to do with perfection, it's all about attitude, great songs, yelling groupies and taking a piss break when Keith is doing his "nice to be here, nice to.......MEZ

Ay ay baby it hurts
