Some of the obvious "jazz rock" drummers like Max Weinberg just aren't going to leave their current band and tour for the Stones...
Secondly, the Stones probably wouldn't pay a super "name" drummer enough to leave their current band...
SO, it most likely would be a road-proven journeyman drummer who can keep the beat yet interject some energy into the Stones rhythm section. Also, I think they'd go with a guy in his 40's or younger.
He's not perfect, but everytime I consider this I come back to Kenny Aronoff, who I don't think has a steady gig right now.. I'd go see that show in a heartbeat.

If any one of Jagger/Richards/Watts, and probably Woods now, were to say "that's it!", I personally would say "well, it's been a great ride, but that's it for me and The Stones too!" I am sorry to say.
"Life's a piece of shit When you look at it Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true. You'll see it's all a show Keep 'em laughing as you go Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
Aaaaaaaand always look on the bright side of life..." Quoted from Ablett's link above.
The problem of dodging this subject is that it's just highly unlikely that Richards and Jagger are going to STOP their collaboration because Charlie or Ronnie or anyone retires...
IMO it's very likely that Keith & Mick would continue on some form of tour, probably a distinctive turn towards slower/bluesier numbers.
So, just saying "charlies gone so Keith & Mick will play with the muppets" isn't realistic.
This raises the interesting question that if they do take a turn to the blues, Kenny Aronoff for example is not a "blues" drummer... more of a steady upbeat rocker.
So, who would they select as drummer for the Mick/Keith & Ronnie tour ?

A drum machine - you can program whatever, and it will sound exactly like Charlie....
For the picture / presence of Charlie - a tridimensional laserlight redo of Charlie .... they can already now plan it - copy all his movements, facial / body expression and make him as a artificial presence......
And then Stones again would be ahead of everybody - being the State of The Art in new computertechnology......
Basically you could do that as well with Mick, Keith, Ronnie - so that we in the end could have an artificial band on stage...... and it would allow us going to the shows forever and ever........
bv, did u miss this one, looks like a duplicate to me, sorry bayou nothing against you i actually like this thread alot, but yesterday i was scorned for doing this for some reason, but today it is ok

Yeah, buy a Stones-holo set for 150 dollars: the Stones play your backyard, rain or shine!
