Duplicate posts - Charlie etc
Posted by: bv ()
Date: April 18, 2006 07:20

There is no point in making new posts on existing subjects. Please spend at least five minutes reading this forum before you post. Making a post on a subject that is already live and existing on this site is stupid and ignorant. They will be closed/deleted. As for the numerous posts about Charlie please use the following one, see below. All other "Charlie" posts will be closed/deleted. Thank you.

I was getting confused as to where to post any opinion on the subject. As in - which one is the "real" thread, the cool one?

I would much rather clean up after other people than sit in the lobby waiting for Mick and Keith to show up.

Ever since you made the change to destroy the chronology of threads and bring the thread with the last post to the top BV, it has been very difficult to even find the post you are looking for. If someone posts on three threads from page one today, by tomorrow these three threads will often be pages apart. I recall that the consensus was the group liked the change, but I stillprefer the old way.

Imortant! Read this before you make new topics:

It takes max one minute to check the topics posted on the main page. No more. Then also page two first time you come in after a day or so. Read what the current topics are before you post. It is important. It can not be that hard really. And it helps to keep the structure. If everybody talk to themselves then it will be a total mess.

I like the system with topics as it is now. Works fine for me.

I agree Bjornulf. That's been annoying me too. Thanks for pointing it out.

Bjornulf,

Just a question: is it possible to make a button with which one can choose in what way the threads are ordered? I mean a choice for 'new thread' or for 'new reply/post'.

I don't know if this is technically possible, and if it is, if that's possible for this site. If it is that would be fine, then one can scroll down all the new threads, and - by clicking that button - scroll down all the new replies.

I dont think it was stupid bv, some people were just excited about the charlie situation, i think it is out of line to call people ignorant, you get an idea
and you post it, who is going to search if the topic is already in circulation, cmon man

Well it should be possible to read the threads ten seconds or so before posting a new subject. Some people are excited all the time and some people are drunk at times, what do I know. All I know is I am the one that have to do the cleaning up, and it is simply a waste of time for me. So if you want to be excited and keep postinmg duplicate posts just keep doing so, making extra work for me, but then one day your user may be gone, unfortunately.

Before I posted the Charlie touring topic, I did check to see if it was here. It was not. By the time I got it posted a few minutes later, someone else had posted it. The post times of the 2 posts were nearly identical. Sorry!! Then they both took off like a rocket.

I do completely agree with your point bv, but I just wanted to point out that sometimes two people are posting at the same time and not a lot can be done about that.

Thanks bv for all you do, it's greatly appreciated!

You know I am not English so unfortunately I am not a true gentleman. I am born among whales, icebears and thus my name is a combination of bear and wolf which means I am pretty wild, at least that is what my parents thought.

Some times enough is enough and then I go right to the target. When there are 10-15 posts on the very same subject then I don't call on diplomacy, I call a spade a spade and tell people enough is enough. And remember monitoring and managing the IORR forum is 100% overhead - waste of personal time - for me. Every time I have to spend time cleaning up after somebody I am spending time I need to do something else, so I am not that patient. In fact some times I am quite mad, and that is why people should think twice before they post. Just like you think before you talk. It is called manners. And it is needed. Here as well as other places in life.

Thank you!
