Well if this is true its not that bad we can still get a some more tours of the US that last say 3 months or less then mabe the same in Europe the folling year just no more year long plus tours I can live with that. But whoever said Charlie did not want to tour with this CD is wrong he agreed to do this tour before the licks tour was even over.

If Charlie wants to stop the massive world tours due to health reasons, he is making the right decision in my opinion.

No, he didn't say he was leaving the band however, it was 7 long years between studio albums (B2B and ABcool smiley. After this tour how long before another studio album is released? It's a sure bet in 2007 there won't be any new material coming out. So if they wait say 4 or 5 years to release new material Charlie will be a graceful 69 yrs old.

Now, I can see Charlie playing small venues with his Tentet band. Maybe a dozen shows here and there, in Europe.

As for the Stones, I've stated a few times they could do a worldwide concert in a small venue for pay per view broadcast. From a business standpoint it would make sense. After all the Bee Gees did those "One Night Only" shows in selected cities.

Someone on here posted that Chuck had made the suggestion for a "rarities" tour. If that is in fact true, then consider the scenario of the group getting together in 3 years rehearsing some 40 rarities and performing in a small venue for worldwide broadcast via pay per view. Yes, they could do a 2 hour show with a 20 or 21 song setlist.

Consider some of these rarities, you can add your own:

Fingerprint File - saw them play it in '75
You Gotta Move - same as above
(Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker - same as above
Far Away Eyes
You Got The Silver - saw them play it in '99
Moonlight Mile
Sway
Can't You Hear Me knockin
Country Honk
Time Waits For No One - never played live
Undercover
She Was Hot - never played live

LOL...I remember reading that edition on the flight home as well!!

he was VERY emphatic about not touring again after '99 in that interview as I recall.

wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if the Stones are forced to retire from the road because their drummer quit because he was sick of the warhorses that the singer and guitarist refused to stop playing? LOL

...not to mention that Charlie got lung-cancer because of Keith's smoking!

Why haven't the major news wire services picked up on this story? Makes one wonder if it's true at all.

there's no story, per se. it is a fact however that Charlie has said this is it, tour wise. he said this publicly and privately many months ago. the stones aren't "announcing" anything, as there is nothing, per se, to announce. will the band go on? Probably...certainly, possibly. They don't even know - so why announce anything? It's not in their makeup to ever announce a Final Tour, with or without Charlie.

Sorry if this is bumming some of you out - but you were not paying attention months ago if that's the case. If it's not the Stones without Charlie for you, be sure to catch them on this tour. Bottom-line.

If this is Charlies last world tour, and it ends in Hawaii, it's kinda symbolic when thinking about the fact that both Brian and Taylor had their last U.S. performance there as well... winking smiley Hopefully the band will continue to be a band with Charlie behind the drums for many more years!

he may well have done but while the rest of the band wanted the Licks tour to continue, it was Charlie who said no.

I think that they are setting us up for this to be the last " world tour" Do you remember Micks interview where he said that after 20 concerts he gets bored and he would be happy playing only a small number of shows. I think they may be going in that direction. Charlie isn't quiting the band, he doesen't want to do anymore round the world year tours. I think Mick probably feels the same that some short tours, or summer tours may be OK, but the long year long tours are over.

I just think it's annoying that when I'm this close to a relatively serious conversation, I get something stupid like that thrown at me..

Why so many posts about this rumour?

Most of us here will probably be dead before the year is out anyway.

Seriously - it's not mere speculation - sorry I can't divulge anymore - but the information is out there if anyone is in doubt......

phd

the top German prices are only about half those of the top US prices. Still not cheap at all, but I am bringing my wife and 2 kids to Berlin for half what I paid for Denver and less than half what I paid for Madison Square Garden in NY.
