If Charlie wants to stop the massive world tours due to health reasons, he is making the right decision in my opinion.
No, he didn't say he was leaving the band however, it was 7 long years between studio albums (B2B and AB
. After this tour how long before another studio album is released? It's a sure bet in 2007 there won't be any new material coming out. So if they wait say 4 or 5 years to release new material Charlie will be a graceful 69 yrs old.
Now, I can see Charlie playing small venues with his Tentet band. Maybe a dozen shows here and there, in Europe.
As for the Stones, I've stated a few times they could do a worldwide concert in a small venue for pay per view broadcast. From a business standpoint it would make sense. After all the Bee Gees did those "One Night Only" shows in selected cities.
Someone on here posted that Chuck had made the suggestion for a "rarities" tour. If that is in fact true, then consider the scenario of the group getting together in 3 years rehearsing some 40 rarities and performing in a small venue for worldwide broadcast via pay per view. Yes, they could do a 2 hour show with a 20 or 21 song setlist.
Consider some of these rarities, you can add your own:
Fingerprint File - saw them play it in '75
You Gotta Move - same as above
(Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker - same as above
Far Away Eyes
You Got The Silver - saw them play it in '99
Moonlight Mile
Sway
Can't You Hear Me knockin
Country Honk
Time Waits For No One - never played live
Undercover
She Was Hot - never played live
