OT: New Chili Peppers

the new disc is called Stadium Arcadium..........it has 2 discs within it called "jupiter" and "mars" for a total of 28 new songs...........the new single "dani california" is very pretty, and somewhere in the new disc(not the single) Springstein and the Rolling Stones are referenced by the band.
Rick Rubin produced it, and early buzz is that it's a masterpiece....(Rubin's having a super year so far...Peppers and Dixie Chicks)....here's a link to more info on the new stuff and also some new performance video......this band is super white hot.........and in their prime......they blow U2 away in my opinion..........here's the link and enjoy!:

thanks..I'll check that when I get home

Look forward to this new album, the single's growing on me slowly

"By the way" is one of the best records of the decade so far. If this one is on a similar level, it'll be quite something.

Rubin's year should get even better when he gets around to putting together and releasing Johnny Cash's final sessions! I think thats next on his agenda...

So is that guy.. what's his name.. anyway the lead guitarist in??

And I don't trust another single that has California in it.

The Chili Peppers are great. 'Californication' and 'By The Way' were great albums (the latter being incredibly melodic). The new single is great as well and I will definately be buying the album

I liked some songs on "One Hot Minute" LP.

I know the song "By The Way" and I don't like it at all. Is this song representative of the album of the same name ? If so, it's not my cup of tea.

Actually, I don't think that song is totally representative of the album as a whole. The general feel of the album is more of a laid back, "chill" vibe. The song's are very melodic and there are tons if catchy vocal harmonies. It's definately worth listening to, at least once anyway, to see if you like it or not.

I am a big fan of john fruciante, like the way he plays the guitar

Frusciante's solo stuff is worth checeking out. He's a really talented guy - brilliant guitarist.

Wait till you hear him on the new single

Californication was a true rock classic in my opinion. I liked By The Way but not as much. I don't care much for the new single so far. It's ok. It sure didn't take much imagination to write another Beach Boys-ish melodic pop song about California, did it?

That first solo album (Niandra Lades...) is breathtaking. I think Frusciante is a fine guitar player and (when he was a junkie) a compelling singer & songwriter.

I've always found the Chili Peppers to be derivative and clowny, though.

Those socks on their cocks and lightbulbs on their heads are essential to their musical style. I can't rock unless my cock's in a sock, that's their motto. It's like a demented version of Dr. Seuss.

Y'know what I did like, though?
The hats on fire they wore at Woodstock - that was kind of fresh.

........the peppers are clowny?????............I think their energy is infectious and rowdy and youthful and pure..........watching them perform you know they love music and they pay tremendous homage to many who played before them...as far as their being derivative............that's just a cheeky statement..........

a lot of people feel that way, it seems. I thought 'by the way' was more consistent. Plus, I was in LA for the Stones shows a few months after it came out and so that album brings back some pleasant memories

I really like the Chilli Peppers, but it took them a fair while to grow on me. In all honesty, Californication never grabbed me at the time, but By The Way did. Bloody hell, that's an excellent album. I now own Californication and love that one too.

Get those two, THE NEW ONE and their Greatest Hits. Anything prior to Californication just doesn’t grab me. Aeroplane, Under The Bridge, Give It Away, Higher Ground, etc.

Their cover of Higher Ground Kicks Ass IMO.

Actually, It's okay. It's just that the 80's Chilli Peppers have no appeal to me whatsoever. All that socks on cocks rubbish and white funk and so on. It's just so not cool in my world.

Yeah, Ive never been a HUGE fan of theirs acutally. I dabble in their music from time to time. I actually didnt like Californiacation when it came out. I was like "what is this scar tissue crap?" but recently I started appreciating it more.

I can't stand their 80's stuff, although there are a few songs from 1989's 'Mother's Milk' that I enjoy (Higher Ground, Knock Me Down, Johnny Kick A Hole In The Sky). I think 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik" was a great album. I don't care much for 'One Hot Minute' but Californication and By The Way are excellent. Really looking forward to this new album
