I'll tell you that it is very hard (for me,at least) to say the days they recorded Who's Been Sleeping Here? or Dear Doctor or Lies or Melody or See What Happens were better days than the days they recorded Laugh,I Nearly Died;Too Tight and so on.

Question is, what did we all do before the internet? I had a wife, two kids, a good job, a nice house. Now I live in a one room bedsit in Croydon, in the arsehole of London, with only the interbet for company. I eat hot dogs and live on pies. I'm 45.

Hey you know what? First of all, every creative endevor has a life span of its own. No one stays at their peak forever. Second of all, they've kept it going for as long as any other rock band has taken it. Although they peaked in 72, theyve put out music thats still at least worth listening too, and at times still great, as well as puttin on shows that are still worth seeing Third, theyre not responsible for our hapiness or unhapiness. But, If someone wants to stop being a fan, theres nothing wrong with that either, I dont want to be misunderstood as saying that. Its really not a big deal. but why get MAD at the stones? I just dont get it.

No ryanpow, I am not MAD at the Stones for time passing. Of course they have to quit. Matter of fact, to be honest I wish they had already quit in some wird way.
Because they are @#$%& with their own legacy.
The reason I can say I am mad at them is because I think they are making themselveslook bad. IMO! Only IMO. I wish they were scaling it down, playing the Blues, getting rid of Leavel..you know, the usual.

Correct. Each to their own. If the guy feels the band isnt for him anymore after so many years, it takes a lot to admit that. I can understand that sentiment, even if I wouldnt go as far as that. Plus theres always that great history of music and memories to keep you interested.

Well, I've been missing alot here haven't I? And I'll Miss You, Aucoin.
I agree with all Gazza's points, and it's your choice so we should all respect that. Personally, my interest in the stones peaks and valleys often....and I go through periods where I simply don't want to listen, I've had enough for awhile. So I give them a break and when I come back I'm reinvigorated, born again, like the Phoenix on the cross....or is that Jesus rising again at Easter?
Point is it's in your blood; having the faith doesn't mean having to proove it or be gung-ho all the time. Especially when alot of us have been fans for 20+ years.
I liked the Bigger Bang album, to me it shows the Stones aren't ready to be hung on the cross yet. But that's just my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with deciding you don't LOVE the Stones anymore. Many hardcore Stones fans have a LOVE/HATE relationship with them.

The post is funny though, just to get a reaction!

Bring on Barry Manilow for Aucion!

Wo wo wo it's magic, I know.........

Very well put. I too have felt the same sentiment throughout this entire tour. I went to my first concert in 1972 and have remained a fan since then. They are the music to the soundtrack of my life. But they have become what they once stood against-the edge is gone-replaced by greed and corporate decisions. I'm not ready to jump ship yet and doubt I ever will, howver I fully understand ones reasons to no longer be a part of what has become.

it's a passing fancy.
I have loved The Rolling Stones since 1966, when I first heard
Satisfaction. Only thing I was only 2½ years by then."

Wow, I was about 2 months old when Satisfaction hit the charts, that was in 1965. Funny that you specifically remember this song one year later, when you were 2.5....Since you stated that the Stones is a passing fancy of yours, but you loved them since you were 2.5 years old, now must be close to when will stop loving them...

Chelsea Drugstore describes a sense of of disillusion he has with what the RS represents to him and what he feels they have become, but it is entirely subjective, it is neither wrong nor right, but it signals the end of the passion of a great love.

I've been a Stones fanatic since I heard The Last Time in 1965.(I just googled the song to make sure of the year and found out it was based in part on a traditional gospel song -[www.songfacts.com].

The Stones are too corporate but, Jesus how many rockers can still rock like the Stones after so many years. Even if they did peak 30 years ago, so what. ABB doesn't rate with Let it Bleed but it is better than 98% of what is released nowadays.

I was listening to Let it Bleed in the car today and the opening to Gimme Shelter still gets me pumped when Watts comes in with the drums.

Well friends, I've just had yet another predictably-awful night here at college. I'm always going to stick with the Stones. The only thing that kept me from jumping in traffic was that I'd hear another song and everything would be fine. I hummed Fool To Cry on the way back to my dorm. Sorry, I'm sounding ridiculous

They piss me off because they are so in it for the buck but I just saw the most incredible concert in Melbourne and was blown away.

The Stones are a disease that doesn't kill you but also cannot be cured.
Once they're in your bones that's it.

Loved them since I was 9 and am now 37.
My love of their music I really cannot do justice with words alone.
They're something you feel.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.
