Exactly LOGIE. You prove the point without me having to make it?

You'd better get practising?

And who else in the Stones history has ever been able to contribute at any scale to the song wrting?

He did at the very same day it felt all right
for self-divining @#$%& to kick on him.

I agree Ron had some problems; but since the Super Bowl he has
rocked the *ss off us all.

Ask Rockman; after Sydney & after tomorrows Melbourne!
He might supply us with a fresh & crisp report...

Thing is, Logie, you have already decided.
You got your credo nailed up like Luther in the 1500s.
Nothing can make you change your mind.
Sad for you.

I'll make my mind up AFTER I've seen the band on the half a dozen or so occasions that I've got tickets for this summer. By all accounts they are playing very well indeed, even if the setlist actually belongs to the time of Luther. Remember, we are commenting here (somewhat tongue in cheek) upon ONE single performance, and supposedly having a laugh.

If you cannot take that without getting your blood pressure rising, then I think that it is actually very sad for you, yourself.

Well, if Ron's playing is p*****ic (refuse to type it), so is Keiths;
not to mention Mick's singing; Darryl's bass playing & Charlies drumming.
Stop picking on Ron, thats my message. No blood pressure prob here.
Birds are singing & I'm going out in the sun to be with my kids.
You sit here and pity yourself its not 1972 or slt.

Where in any of this was the "supposedly having a laugh' bit?

It's not exactly up there with the situations in Iraq, Iran and Africa is it, or even the recent rioting in France. Nor does it have any of the seriousness of the recent interesting exchanges on this board regarding the political situation in China.

Still, if a Ron Wood solo is the be-all-and-end-all to the likes of yourself, then hang on in there!

The weather's nice...

LOGIE, you baffle me!! Your the one harping on about one solo in one gig, then you proclaim to be having a laugh (???) and now making out to be others who are over doing it?? Where all were saying is let it lie and stopp rattling on about the same old thing!

And yes the weathers nice.... even in blighty!

We dont debate Iraq here.
Harassing particular members of the Stones here is in my eyes
not too a petitesse, as I reckon the French say.

Anyway, we salute the free speech:
Logie - what gigs did you see? What solos did he mess up?
Details are welcome!

Now you ARE being sensitive!

Having a laugh at Ronnie's guitar break during SMU on RS.Com is hardly what one could call harrassment, especially as my high regard for Ronnie is well documented on this board. How the Stones have failed to utilise his talents is another matter however (and one worth discussing at some future time).

Anyway, my good man, what's your opinion on the matter? Do you think he nailed it or what?

As stated above; from Superbowl & on I only hear good stuff off Woods axe.

Bro, mcparty is as big a Stones fan as anyone I know. He was expressing an opinion which after seeing the video myself I agreed with. Why do you and other like minded fans jump on someone who espresses a view, though unpopular with you, happens to be true? Can you watch that video and say honestly that he played well? Being a Stones fan isn't just heaping praise on the band and viewing their every musical utetterance as gospel. They are faliable like the rest of us after all and when any member is not performing up to par it will naturally be commented upon. No one is helping him by telling him that is playing great when the opposite is true. Ronnie needs a figurative and perhaps real kick in the ass to wake him up and get him back to playing at the level that must of us know he can play to but lately has cleary not which unfortunately many here are meekly willing to accept. (By the way, mcparty doesn't much care for for Toto or ABBA)

Well, a true fan shouldnt use the term
"pathetic" in this matters, should he?

Re: Slouching Towards Vegas

I agree to Baboon about the use of "pathetic". It's a very bad word to use about an artist.
But, I also understand that everybody here has the right to critesize Rolling Stones. We're not blind fans.
So, there's 2 sides.

good point. "feeble" works much better in these matters.

What is and is not a true fan is a relative term Bro and each of has our own view of what that is. Pathetic is indeed a strong word but I don't think it was used here out maliciousness. Rather I think it was meant to convey disappointment and perhaps a hint of anger that truly great and much admired guitarist is not playing up the standard he is capable of.

You have an interesting view of what Rock and Roll is rooster. If you are willing to accept less from Ronnie that is of course up to you.

Did Ronnie ever missed a gig? No!!!

Re: Slouching Towards Vegas

Rooster, I don't see what Ronnie's never having missed a gig has to do with his playing ability. Nor do I see the relavance of Toto or Bon Jovi to the Rolling Stones.
