for me the stones song that has the best 2 lines in the one song would have to be BEFORE THEY MAKE ME RUN.....

1. i found my way to heaven....cause i did my time in hell.

2. wasn't looking too good but i was feelin real well.....

classic keith that to me never gets the respect it deserves.....

any other 2 liners in the repertoire?

Todd - do the two lines have to be one right after the other or just in the same song?

I've always thought the lyrics to that one were very underated. Those two you cited are great, and how about this one:

Watched the taillights fading, there ain't a dry eye in the house
They're laughing and singing
Started dancing and drinking as I left town

Or the opening lines of the song:

Worked in bars and sideshows along the twilight zone
Only a crowd can make you feel so alone
And it really hit home

Very poignant and powerful. I wonder if Keith wrote all the lyrics by himself or if Jagger chipped in? Either way, an extremely well-written song.

I've always thought that Before they Make Me Run is a lyrical masterpiece. (Up there with Hand of Fate and Rocks Off) "It's another goodbye to another good friend . . ."

bong, I thought he said, "Another good bust, another good frame".

bong, give it another listen and tell me what you think. I'll do the same.

2 great lines in one song =

"Line on the mirror,
lines on her face". winking smiley

Mick's said BTMMR is entirely Keith's "except for one or two 'oh yeahs' in the middle";
he's also said he wrote most of it, based on Keith's idea - but it appears he was coked to the gills when he said that, and actually meant Beast of Burden.
there's an early take of BTMMR that's really moving. almost the same lyrics, but a lot more pain showing. strong stuff.
musically too it's such a brilliant number ... like no other, baby - like no other can.

"What do you want - what?!"

Hi with sssoul,
I would love to hear that version. Do you, or does anyone else have it that they could post on Hot Stuff?

Thanks!
Cindy

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

wow....thanks guys.....

i stand corrected....there are far more than 2 great lines in this song....

also.....i haven't seen any other comments that would lead me to believe at this point that any other stones song has as many classic lines as this one.

i would love to stand corrected which was the reason for this post.

and no cindy the lines don't have to come one after the other.....anywhere in any song.....
