Shanghai censorship curveball

So they're banning BOB, BS, LSTNT, and HTW? How about showing those censoring knuckleheads the jokes on them. There are several Stones song more explicit than those songs. So what can we put on the Shanghai setlist to make them throw a fit.
@#$%& Blues

Parachute Woman,GunFace,Crazy Mama.Wanna Hold You?I can't see the reason why Beast Of Burden is banned but,I'm not disappointed to see those four banned. There is also an unidentified fifth song that is banned.I hope that it is You Got Me Rocking because of the hooker line or Miss You because, they can't have anyone singing about someone starring in their dreams.

Chinese government rocks!

Two warhorses gone (BS and HTW)
How about Satisfaction ( . . trying to make some girl), Start Me Up ( . . make a dead man come), Sympathy (for the Devil!), TPIE ( . . bare your breast), and ONNYA ( . . f#$king up my life).

It'll be a club show.

It will be very exciting to see what they make of this

Still its a thrill & some kind of progess they do perform in
Red China!

Any ideas what they will do?

Talk was cheap from Mick Jagger "We have 400 songs to choose from" it would be great if it would force them into playing something interesting, but I doubt it.

Great post drbryant!

Will they play 'Let's drink to the hard working common people'?

If I know the Stones (or at least their habits this deep into a tour),they will replace the two warhorses with one live rarity at the most + a semi-warhorse such as Gimme Shelter,All Down The Line,or Paint It Black. Most shows don't include Let's Spend The Night Together & Beast Of Burden.I guess alot depends on what the fifth banned song is.

Agreed. I think the Chinese Ministry of Culture should follow them around Europe and ban a few warhorses at every show, that would liven up the setlist.

This goes to show how stale things have gotten for many long time fans. The Stones are banned from playing five songs & their fans (including me) are in favor of it.

Well Superbowl in USA network censored 2 out of 3 songs i.e. 67% so asking them nicely not to play a handful songs - or the power will be gone - is a much more correct way to do it I think. I would much rather have Play With Fire or some other song 100% or Rough Justice or Start Me Up with a BEEEEP...

And by the way. Honestly. Would you really play CS Blues to your child or grandchild age 10? Or to your mother or father? It was made to offend. It was made so that nobody could ever broadcast or play or publish or manufacture it.

The Stones make great rock''roll but it is also quite offensive if you take it out of the contect and read it like regular lyrics or a poem. Not for everybody but still for many. Which we do have to respect.

I have an extremely hard time equating the deletion of a single word or two
with a blanket ban on whole songs.
They really are not the same or even close to being the same.

It would have been 67% censorship if they said you CANNOT play 2 of the 3
songs that you propose to play.

But, hey it was VERY creative to try to make the Chinese government seem more "open minded" the USA!

Hey Tod that's funny! Oh, my friend, the erring has been going on--lol. Feel like a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. Very pleasant way to spend a Friday--watching your "star" witness tank. Oh well, these things happen.

As for the "cheers"--excellent suggestion and in fact am about to head out to some establishemnts to wipe away the disgust.

Sorry to hear about your weather--el nino? (sp?)

As for the Stones--Keith's instrumental idea sounds pretty cool.
