Thanks, nikkibong. My Pirates are still in a perpetual state of rebuilding, but there's nothing like the opening of a new season. I love baseball!

i was actually going to say that I hope MicksBrain doesn't pledge allegiance to one team or another, or the always lovely Duane from Houston could get violent in his Astros-loving rhetoric.

err . . . what do you mean "lighten up" ? i was saying that some rather high-strung people on this board might get incensed about sports allegiances. i was, in a sense, saying that i hope others stay light.

so what did you mean again?

Nikki, I can watch any baseball game on TV, and even if I don't give a damn about either team, I can still enjoy it.

Baseball is the perfect sport for people who like to take naps in their Lazy Boy chair. Spring and Summer is actually FISHING SEASON...something to do between basketball and football season. It is also the time of year to anticipate Rolling Stone tour news. Time to sign up another years membership so I can EARN the right to purchase tickets....I'm still waiting on my poster and dvd!!!!

Baseball is very Stones-related. While I was having a chat over a meal in Nagoya today - about the Stones - they played baseball on the screen, at the Tokyo Dome. And this tour is the baseball tour, even in Japan!

What does this table mean?

Re: Let's Hear it for Baseball!

It means the Yankees have a very strong offensive line up, as evidenced by their 15 - 2 win last night in Oakland.

The table shows what each batter did at bat last night
The J. Damon numbers are wrong, so let's look at D.Jeter, for example. Jeter played ShortStop (SS), came up to bat 6 times, got 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI's (runs batted in). His current batting average is .333 (2 hits in 6 at bats).

Go Yanks.

the only game, with a bat, worth talking about, is Cricket.
