Dirty Work in 86. I bought it (on tape) on a ski-holiday up in the mountains way south.

My parents are not music-lovers, but at least they got one cassette with the Stones. Big hits, high tide and green grass was my door-opener to the Stonesworld. That was back in the early eighties when I was around 8-9 years old.
In the end of the eighties I began to put more interest in Stones and the three first albums I bought was Sticky Fingers, Goats Head Soup and Tattoo You. My first gig was Urban Jungle 6.August 1990. I was totally amused that my mother let me travel to Oslo, 540 km away from my home when I was just 16 years old.

Like 'em for cool look, image, etc. but mostly for the great music. Always been a semi-bad boy and couldn't go for the goody-goody groups.

Got an 8-track of GHS for my 13th birthday, really liked "100 Years Ago". Still do. But really got into the band when Black and Blue came out. Got me thru my parents divorce and a breakup with my 1st real girlfriend.

Because I like rock 'n' roll and the Stones do it better than almost anyone else. When did it start? At about 14 in 1984, from hearing songs on the radio and from meeting people who were into them.

I can't give them too much credit, their heads will swell up to the size of beach balls.

At the tender age of 8 years I saw them on "Thank Your Lucky Stars" singing Not Fade Away. In a household of Beatles, Motown and Everly Brothers fans, I had found my very own band.

My birthday present from my mother that year was the debut album.

the first stones song I liked was Under My Thumb, and that was when I was around 12. and a few years later I liked Time is on My side. Then, once I got into Miss You it was over. There was no turning back. I became a full flegged fan. Beast of Burden Just put me over the top. After that point I just started getting into more and more of their songs and albums.

I thought I was early on with Dirty Work...
Logie, did you see any Stones-concerts in the 60s?

I just like 'em cause they're a great rock 'n' rollin' band! The songs are cool, Mick is arguably the best frontman in rock history, Keith is the riffmaster, Ronnie is fun and nothing ever seems to phase the calm, cool and collected Charlie. I'm glad they toured in 1989 because that's when I started listening to their music on a regular basis. A college buddy gave me Hot Rocks and basically said "Here, listen to this and listen to this song called Midnight Rambler." From then on, I was hooked. So hooked, that I bought both tickets off of my boss and went to my first Stones gig (Toronto, Dec. '89) with my cousin! Wish I could do that all over again. smiling smiley

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I can't put my finger exactly on what I like about them, but I think it's the whole image and sound mixed together. I have heard their songs on the radio my whole life but I first started paying attention to them in late 2004. Heard Angie on the radio and the DJ started talking about Goats Head soup, and it prompted me to look up more about them, and I was hooked!

what station/DJ. I live in SF , I may have heard of them.

I started getting into the stones on K-Fox out of San Jose. theres a DJ named Greg Kinh who used to be in the Greg Kinhn Band. He would talk about why he liked Beast of Burden so much, and that was when I was just getting into the stones. There was also a DJ named Frank Bennet who was a huge stones fan on that station. His nick name was Uncle Frank. He said Goats Head Soup was his favorite album. A couple years ago he got a sex change. He kept doing his show and called HER self Aunt Fran. but then they let her go does anyone from the Bay Area know what Im talking about? I thought it was some kind of publicity stunt, but I think its really true. there was an article about it in the chronicle.

I don't know what station it was. It was in LA, though. I had just gotten back to school and was trying out different radio stations, and don't recal which one this was. What station number is K-Fox? I've been trying to find a good station for when I'm home in SF area. Haven't heard about Uncle/Aunt Fran, sorry.
