If I can make a suggestion, I think it would be a good idea/compromise to please everyone, to have a separate OT chat area, where people can chat about anything unrelated to stones. Although I've been a stones fan for over 20 years, or maybe because of that & because my taste in music has expanded, my interest in the stones waxes & wanes. Since I live in Canada, I've already seen them 3x this tour and likely won't see them again this tour, so the tour for me is really "over", although for Europeans excitement is just beginning.
A separate chat area/forum would keep this forum about the stones and the other forum for fun, OT chat.
What do the rest of you think?

Excellent idea. Let's keep elks, oil prices, tabasco sauce seperate from our gloryfying Stones.

I think the 'OT' system works just fine. Case in point: this thread.

I think its good to keep in mind this is a STONES message board, but an ocassional OT post is OK IMO. on the otherhand, i have no problem with leaving politics out, I learned my lesson there. the thing is, if you dont feel like talking off topic, then dont respond. A thread can die out really quickly if no one responds to it. It can get pushed aside really fast.

jagger50, I meant that it's no point in separating elks from any other subjects in the world. They are top-notch animals.
Besides, if you can make many threads about a bee, there's also room for elks, tabasco sause and Macca.

Some people on the board get ticked when things get a little dazed & confused....maybe the forum could be called "The pool's in but the patio ain't dry". I find it gets a bit dry sticking to the topic.

This is a very focused forum.
And when I'm gone for a while,
all I see is technical threads.
They can be boring too, no matter how Stones-related they are.

I would probably stay away if a chat was set up.
That's just a waste of time.

Hey I like to kick some dirt on the umpires shoes too. Has anyone really noticed that this thread is up to 19 posts with this one and counting. OT threads interest everyone, just scroll through the pages and look for yourself. And if it does not interest you, click on something that does.

When you all post and reply day after day, you kind of become cyber friends, if it only by username. Like brothers and sisters. Sometimes you get mad at each other and sometimes you laugh at one another. But usually in the end you forget about it and move on to another topic.

Lots of good ideas out there from everyone.

That was pretty rude, "Mick's Brain". The whole point of this idea was to make a compromise so that everyone's happy, so that those people (not myself) who get annoyed here on Tell Me when things go off topic, won't have to see that, and so that those of us who want to, will have the freedom to do that as much as we want on another forum. Just like how the trade section is separate from Tell Me.

This might be off topic (ha.......ha................ha.. um), but I think they should have music playing when you go on this site. Obviousley i have stones music in mind, but you could put other stuff on ocassionaly too. Is this even possible? Ive only seen music play on websites when you first log on, but then it goes away. I just think it would be really cool to have that.

You can NEVER make everyone happy (I used to run a Mobile Music business long ago for wedding receptions, parties, and sh*t. One person wants one song, another wants a different one - it NEVER ends !!). If this site became G-rated cause it was being policed like the Berlin Wall I'd be out of here in a second. Yeah, I already knew what your "jobs" are, wasn't asking. There are some rules here, as it is, for people not to be rude to others, because we're not animals acting on urges.

Sometimes threads that start out as stones threads go off topic. They don't have a big OT in the front! So this would be an easy solution.

Miss U, if I hurt your feelings I apologize, I'm not here to hurt people's feelings, I just like how wild and off the wall the site can get, it's fun (but I don't think anyone is truely serious when they argue and say sh*t to each other. I know I'm not). It's a good stress relief and a lot of really funny stuff going on IMO...(if I have to live in the nightmare known as BUSHWORLD at least I can find some fun here)
