18 shows in North America this fall
Posted by: bv ()
Date: March 19, 2006 20:36

They are planning to finish the A BIGGER BANG tour with 18 shows in North America this fall. I haven't seen the schedule yet so this is just speculation. They will probably do arena shows. In major markets. A wild guess and a dream of the perfect way to close this tour would look like this:

2 x NYC
2 x Boston
2 x Chicago
2 x Philly
2 x Miami
2 x LA
2 x SF
1 x Toronto
1 x Phoenix club show

... plus a couple more shows...

I think they should finish like they started.
In Toronto. With a club show. That would be perfect.

I wish us English could get 18 more shows. Or even 1 more.

You English are greedy! You have got them at the Station Hotel many many times 43 years ago and then all over your country and then 12 times at Wembley Stadium since 1982 and even club shows on every tour since 1995. With two more Wembley Stadium shows coming up in a few months time. England is a major Stones capital and they will always return to London.

Like where did Mick and Ronnie warm up for this tour? Theatre Royal London! [iorr.org]

LOL..yeah we all remember that 1962-65 period so fondly!!!

UK - population 60 million. No of ABB shows - 5
USA - population 300 million. No of ABB shows - 53 (with maybe 18 to come)

Yeah, the English are "greedy"!! The Stones will spend an entire week in the UK on this tour! smiling smiley

Who wouldnt want more shows? Every Stones fan would.

We did pretty well on the last tour (for once), but unfortunately London always gets the lion's share of all UK shows. Since 1990, the Stones have only played six UK shows outside the capital

1995 - Sheffield
1999 - Sheffield & Edinburgh
2003 - Glasgow (x2), Manchester

London has got 13 in that same period.

China 1,5 BILLION people and one arena show capacity 8.500 people.
Many other countries in Europe one show only.
I don't think England is that "under-covered" when it comes to shows.
They even made a special tour for the UK in 1999...

Such a luxury problem the Stones have. They haven't even come to Europe - they haven't even played one show there - and people want more shows! They could have toured forever I think. But everything have to come to an end some time.

Hold on, hope that's not the football score!

was that the 10-date national tour of theatre shows that they promised in JUne 1998 when they postponed the UK dates for 'tax reasons'?

Oh wait, that never happened

And whats with this 'special tour in 1999' nonsense? Are you suggesting that was a favour?? Those were rescheduled shows from 1998 which were part of a full European tour!! And the rescheduled dates had about 8 European shows added to them (instead of the UK theatre tour)

Seriously - you must be having a laugh here

I am very glad for the US, privileged market . Now as a European Band and foremost a British Band, I would have hope they stop their latest worldwide Tour in London, where it all started. But this could be reversed : would the Stones still be there without the $ .

I don't get it why they go back to the states! To me it just seems as if they want to earn some more money instead of really wanting to play. If they really enjoy playing and want some shows to play after Europe they would go to places like South America, markets where they have the most enthausiastic crowds. If you want money you go places like the states where you can charge big bucks and get relatively cold crowds in comparison to south America!!!

Cheers,
Wuudy

Well, I had faith that this was not the end, but my faith is wavering. For some reason, hearing this extension with Mick's slip of the lip about maybe NOT returning to Japan, and I fear that these may well be the group's swan song, their farewell to touring. I aslo wish I had known this from the beginning, I would have planned things differently. Money spent on two Euro legs...I would have done one in June, skipped the August shows, and hit the US! I will just be unable to hit those shows, and mortal dread now has me concerned that they may even be touted as the farewell!

If the No Security Tour is any indication,I think that they will include some cities that have been passed over lately such as Buffalo,Orlando,Kansas City,Indianapolis,& New Orleans along with some big cities like Boston,Chicago,& Los Angeles + hopefully a couple of places they've never played and/or have never played since the 60's.A few club shows would be a great idea especially if real fans are given a shot at tickets.

Ive got a brilliant idea what they can do in the spring.
Why not twist the tour around, with a "theme": "Stones in Nature"
They could use pan flute, and stuff like that, and some "blowing-wind" keyboard-effect. Add animal-sounds, real rain, and bugs around in the arena. And some romantic rain during the encore, where they do a ballad in 20% of the real tempo. I'll bet Mick can play pan flute really well, just like he plays harmonica. No singing though. Keith could take a sword, and kill a deer or something. We wouldn't get any setlist-complaints either, because we wouldn't recognize the songs. I hope you're with me on this one. Let's start a campaign.

Club shows would be nice. Or a totally different set list. Then I'd go.

BV-thanks. Lets hope this comes true. By the way-how do you have time to stay on top of all of this?

Finally, I'll surely be at a couple of these. Hopefully they'll include Vegas which was a surreal party this time around..........
