1) Coming Down Again

2) Angie

3) Silver Train

Every song on GHS is a favourite song. Answering this question made me stressed out!

Yeah but TOPS , it doesn't have that Ying Yang, Soft - Hard thing like SF, LIB, BB, Exile. It's just too laid back. Should have done a Slow Side / Fast Side. Must have been alot of Pot floating around....It's a good POT album.... plus, DARE I say, SHI -TEE cover. I know what they were going for but it didn't work. Mick Looks like Kathrine Hepburn or a still from turn of the century / day in the park - too much herb smoking, THAT"S GOTTA BE IT !!

Angie
Coming Down Again
Can You Hear The Music

If there was 4 I'd chose Winter, and Dancin' With Mr. D fifth.

I've alway liked the Stones' slow songs.

re: mickbrain's comment on k. hepburn.....

funny story about the cover: when i was a kid and had just started buying albums (i had a total of 4 or 5 lps, 1 of which was a stones'-IORR), i begged and pleaded with my mom to take me downtown to a record store that was having a "3 albums for $12.99" one week sale. my mom agreed and i was excited as hell; i was about to expand my music collection by over 50% in 1 hour!! soon i was proudly riding home with 3 brand new discs feeling like a king and a burgeoning audiophile. let it bleed, station to station, and the album that had 'Angie' pictured on the front and keith on the back!!! hahaha...it wasn't until i got home and opened the album and saw the other pictures that i figured out it was mick on the front.

Markdog, that's really funny! That it was "Angie" I mean.
It's really hard to chose 3 songs here, I really love this album. If I had too, I'd chose the 3 last tracks on the album, because they fit so sweet together. Of course, I love other tracks here too. There's not one song here, I could do without, just like Let It Bleed, Sticky, Exile and Some Girls.

I'll say it again: almost every song on GHS is about a minute too long.

It may be someone's "favorite" but in no way does it come close to being the Stones best.

Some of the best stuff during those sessions (Criss Cross, Tops, Waiting on a Friend) didn't even make it on the album.

What were they thinking??

best tracks:

Angie (even though it's too long!!)
Doo Doo Doo Doo (etc)

Yeah, Too long, too lethargic, it's a Stoner album - no energy. Could only get it up for Star and Heartbreaker.... Where's that joint.....

This is a GREAT record.

Hide Your Love (some of the best lead guitar by anyone at anytime)
Winter
Silver Train

It is too bad that they could find a way to get Criss Cross Man on here.
I aloso agree with those that wrote that they went a bit overboard with effects and that damn clavinet.

It is hard to pick three of the best

the best two are easy for me though, thats Angie and Heartbreaker. they're the most popular from the album, but I happen to think theyre also the best

Winter would probably be the third strongest track. Coming Down again is good. I like it all execpt can you hear the music. maybe i need to give it another listen. A lot of the other songs grew on me, i didnt like some of them at first.

I thougth that after the "lazy bones" line in 100 years ago, the riff they play on clavinet sounded dated until the rest of the band kicks in.

Heartbreaker has a clavinet, but i think it sounds good

It is a laid back and quirkie release, but to me it works...I think this is one of those releases that certain fans just "get"...not that its bad or wrong for those that don't get it, I understand the desire for more rockers on GHS, but GHS is really more experimental with 100 Years Ago, and Can You Hear the Music; and the funk driven Heartbreaker.
