Anybody know what the stones do with themselves on a daily basis when they're not on stage? Are they locked up in hotel rooms? That's got to be a drag - or do they get out? There's only so many video games one can play or books to read. Do they fly out of town and come back, they have family with them, or what? Just curious how they 'keep it together' as a group for so long on the road. What's a day in the life of a stone on tour?
Love to know what they do on off days in between shows. I know that last fall they stayed in Richmond, at the Jefferson Hotel, all week...and that some of the band was more than Over-Served at the bar.
I don't know about the rest of you, but don't you really wonder?. . .
Is it cards, shopping, jamming, interviews, transufsions (Keith?), internet, ( Chuck - getting song suggestions?), or what?
Just can't imagine. . .and I for one. . .thank them, for hangin' in there on doing it however it gets done, but even with all the $$, it's got to be a bit of a drag. . . . . but like Keefe says, it's touring and playing that is the 'rolling stones' - got to love that!!!!!!!!!!
i recall in 69 keith was wandering around in the altamont-crowd, talking and charing drugs with some people. well, i didn't see him at the langerado music festival yesterday... as they play in fort lauderdale today, i think that the old boys were in the region yet. what do they do? always hang around in their hotel? watching tv all the time? maybe keith has two rooms now - one for the jounalists and the real keith-tomb. in the room for the press is always a drug-fueled party going on with loud rock and reggae-music, booze and pills and powders all over the place. beautiful groupies stoned out of their minds, the air thicker than a burning wood (not ronnie!)... in the real mr. richards room it is not allowed to smoke, there is some descent classical music playing and my hero is drinking mint-tea without sugar. what a drag it is getting old...

LOL! Great post, twang. Excellent. And you know what. I think youre right. Really, I think thats what it really is. Give them people what they want to see or hear. Of course all the clichees are true and Keith didn't changed a bit for 37 years. He is still the ol' gypsy and all. Lol.

"Over and over again" I somehow doubt that. I mean, why would he? Once, possibly but over and over again when he WAS there and has been in the band for 44 yrs, what, exactly, would be the point?
they text message me about their frustration about not playing LIL, Winter, Sway, Ventilator Blues, Some Girls, and especially how they need to break out CYHMK again now that the guitars are finally distorted again onstage. they're really just everyday people, trying to get by....
Last year, I spent about 40% of my time on the road. If the Stones are like me and other business people I know, here is what they do.
1. hook their computers up to the internet and check their messages. 2. order room service 3. try to work out a little 4. take care of personal matters (finances, etc.) 5. attend any scheduled internal meetings 6. get some work done (in the stones case, I guess that means reviewing the itinerary and set list for concert day, and practicing a little in your room) 7. call family at home and relatives/friends locally and meet them for dinner if available 8. attend any client or other business dinner, if scheduled 9. get home late, check sports scores on the internet 10. order a late night snack from room service and take a melatonin and try to fall asleep despite jet lag.
