We have had a fair number of people mentioning "The Band" recently. Since Ronnie Wood and Keith Richard have played with them (THe Last Waltz and "Duece and a -half")this makes this Stones related. Here is a few sites for anyone interested:
First two studio albums are MASTERPIECES. Must-haves for any serious music fan. After that, it gets a little sketchy...personally, I think the all-covers Moondog Matinee is perhaps the best of the rest....
yup - and the next is just eponymously titled "The Band" - get 'em both and let 'em soak in good.....the recent reissues have several bonus tracks - nice, but unessential
Elmo, I'm also fond of the Dylan/Band album, Planet Waves. Really good stuff. It sounds like they're having a lot of fun together, Bob and the Band. My favorite on the album is "On A Night Like This," but it also has "You Angel You," and I think two versions of "Forever Young." It's a good mood album.
Planet Waves really is the tits. You can really hear that Band sound on it & it has some great #s like Luke says...although I'd certainly throw Tough Mama into that group...that songs smokes!
T&A! What I meant was: "I will let you borrow my CD." Don't know were the word burn came from...........(heh heh). My mistake. Thank you for taking time out to point out my error.
LK! Love "Rock of ages." I have it on vinyl. I think the CD has the encore on it that featured Dylan. Have a few Cds that I will send ya later in the week. Oh, Love "Stagefright."IMO, it is under-rated. LAZY COWGIRLS ROCK!( I feel better, now)
The Band is awesome. For those who are not familiar with them I recommend getting first two albums as soon as possible. The second one might be the greatest album ever made.
Unfortunately I still don't have all of their studio albums but I am working on it.
