The setlist looks wonderful. My only objection and wish is that Keith would mix up his set more often. He had no problems doing that in '99 and during Licks so I cannot comprehend why he always plays the same couple of songs. If Keith would play a wider range of songs I'd be perfectly satisfied with all the future setlists to come.

The doctor has just returned form the Forum, and here's the lowdown. From my view from the 12th row Keith's side, it was a great show, and I am ashamed for dissing the Forum as a venue a few months ago when they first announced. A bit of an LA crowd with people sitting in the first tier, but everyone on the floor was on their feet. The guitars were LOUD, and the band was working HARD. A nice show for setlist buffs -- Sway, Far Away Eyes and Worried About You all in a row, with Respectable on the B-Stage (but maybe they should retire that one, see below). An absolutely torrid, incredibly long, Midnight Rambler (Mick blowing a smoking solo with Keith leaning on his shoulder). Ronnie was back up to snuff tonight as well and everyone appeared to be having a great time, especially on Worried About You. There were some rough spots, with some songs, like SFTD not ending quite on cue, and Respectable on the B-Stage was absolutely ragged. I was trying to figure out who was out of tune -- I figured that it wasn't Mick b/c he is usually on his game -- but it was a mess. Somehow, though, it was fun. In the end, a classic Arena show, on par w/ the January MSG shows (but one song short -- Rain Fell Down was omitted, making for the now standard 20-song set). Glad I paid for the utterly outrageous Forum VIP seats, and I hope that some fan enjoys the laminate (w/"VIP Experience" on one side and "NO backstage access" on the other) and Stones logo all-leather pocket calendar that my sister and I forgot under our seats on the way out.

very good set-list. disappointed about respectable though. as i mentioned in an earlier thread, they seem to have forgotten how to play it.

As they have with She´s So Cold.

But this really seems to be a great achievemwent setlist-wise!!!
I lurv Sway, and the the 'know-howers' and
"Let-it-be-1972-and-pray-for-a reunion-with-Taylor"-
phantasts & -@#$%& may say whatever they want but Woody really gets it on
from what I´ve heard, on Sway.

I'm reall curious about reviews, not the least of far Away Eyes,
have mailed a person over there that may have attended.

Sway was solid, but Far Away Eyes was just faaabulous, dahlings. If I'm remembering correctly, Mick was having a lot of fun with the tune, introducing it as appropriate for the LA Forum, which is now used almost exclusively as a church, speed-rapping some of the lyrics, throwing in "Bakersfield California", and the guitar interplay with Keith and Ronnie on lap steel was gorgeous.

just got back from the forum ... the sway/faraway eyes/worried about you mini set was definitely the highlight ... the first two were incredible - and worried about you was great too (but i just saw them do it at msg in january) ... during respectable i wondered if mick was singing the respectable lyrics to another song - still, i was glad they did it ... everyone seemed to have a lot of energy - i never got the impression that they were just going thru the motions ... if they'd only abandon start me up, it's only r 'n r, brown sugar, miss you, honky tonk women and tumbling dice (you get the idea)

Yep carson99, I TOTALLY get what you're saying...Move out 5 or 6 burned out warhorses and give us "She Was Hot", "Loving Cup", "Soul Survivor/Must Be Hell", "Jigsaw Puzzle", "Time Waits For No One", etc, etc,....

not really 'quite standard' at all when you measure it against the 3 LA area shows in November, which would be the shows that most 'multiple attendees' would have been most likely to have attended.

Some very nice shake-ups tonight.

Lucky people.

Was Faraway Eyes a tour debut?

yes

By my initial calculations, thats only the 3rd time in the last decade

Since 1978, they played it at ten of the final 18 US shows on the 1994 VL tour.

On Voodoo Lounge '95 it was played in Adelaide, at Brixton and on the final show at Rotterdam (I was at that one and it was a lovely surprise)

On BTB - only played in Nashville 26.10.97

On Licks - arena show in Chicago 10.9.02

bootlegs cant physically get released that fast. Torrents sometimes get uploaded the next day. A bit early to expect that, though.

Amended what I said above about the performances of Far Away Eyes since 1978 - the original text is still in your post quoting me, which may look a bit confusing smiling smiley

technically and legally, no - but I get what you mean - ie ' a circulating recording'.

Plenty of tapers in the LA area - no doubt it'll surface very quickly

I actually figured LA would get Sway - this seems to be reserved for the big markets right now. But, FAE is a pleasant surprise - and it actually surprises most that it would be coupled with another slower tune in WAY (they have not been doing back-to-back ballads at all). There is definitely some king of connection on these WAY songs:

sWAY
faraWAY eyes
WAY

I may have to concede that I have no longer seen the best show of the tour (Friday night MSG show in january).
