on stage experience

hi, i get the chance but i'm doubting going one gig on stage in Europe. Can you help me make my decision?

- who experienced a bigger bang show on stage in the US?
- how did you get the chance to?
- how much did it cost and was it worth the money?
- how was the view?
- how was the sound?

So, if you could, would you go onstage again?

Thanks for your reaction!

I would die for an onstage ticket, no matter how the view is, no matter how the sound is, I think it's a MUST experience when there is the possibility.

You can't always get what you want,
but if you try sometimes,
you just might find,
you'll get what you need

went to SF1 ... got tickets through normal ticketmaster process.

$250....and, no, it wasn't worth it for me.

not that good. 40 feet above the stage, looking at the back of the Stones' heads.

pretty bad. boomy. i was on the field the next show and the sound was crystal clear.

No...but I guess I'm glad I tried...wouldn't really know otherwise.

Box 2, Keef side, $250, 60% of a $450 front row ticket.

Sound was excellent, view was great unless raining then the cover obstructs the view a bit. Much better than seats in the back of the stadium for the same price. You cannot see the video screen, but you can see backstage things you can see in front, a draw from my perspective. Better than front row? Maybe not if it is your first time in the front row. If you have seen several shows up front this is a unique way to experience a show and quite enjoyable. If you get the chance I saw do it once. Lower boxes are clearly better than upper boxes. Pretty cool to have the flames in your face and the fireworks behind!

Basically, the "experience" is very similar to sitting up high in an arena behind the stage...I've also done that. If that's your idea of a great perspective to see/hear a show, that's fine. What bothers me about this whole bit is that it smacks of another ingenius marketing plot on the Stones part to sell behind the stage seats as an "experience"

Yeah - I had the "limited view" experience in Portland. Not what it's cracked up to be!

I haven't done it but it must be cool to look out over 80.000 enthousiastic fans.. but for the rest of the show.. I don't think it would be that much better than FOS.

T&A and I are always arguing about this. I thought it was a great experience and would absolutely do it again, but we had free beer & wine in Boston and I think they stopped that by the time they got to T&A, so that could be part of the reason.

T&A did convince me that front row is better, but that wasn't an option for me this time, and these seats were.

Again - it wasn't a horrid experience - but worth $250? The second most I've ever splurged on a ticket. I've had far better times on the field and for considerably less. It wasn't so much a question of lack of free booze - had plenty of my own "on hand." I didn't like the fact you had to be escorted to even go to the bathroom. That's a minus, for sure....

Ok, sorry! That was uncalled for. Yeah, it was a pain having to be escorted.

No chance to get some on stage tix in Europe? I've never seen the on stage tix on sale in Europe! Perhaps the just for sponsors?

we had been onstage in pittsburgh.

it was great to see all the people and the stones in front of you. it was interesting to see the backstage- work. for my taste too much people in the boxes.
in all ,it was a once in a life time experience , if you`ve the chance take it, but front row seats are better.

Some people see the worst in everything. The people complaining about being escorted are likely to be the first to sue for negligence if they fell down the stairs.

If you are a happy person and you are willing to try a new experience give it a go. If you are a whiner looking for something to complain about stay home, watch TV and save your money. There is bound to be something there you will not be happy about.

If you are a whiner and do go, try not to ruin the experience for those next to you who may not be as depressed as you are.

The ontage tickets for the stadium shows in 2005 went on sale shortly before the start of the tour. I can imagine they will be sold in May, for the European shows.

I was in Box 7, the first one on the inside on the lower level, for the Charlottesville show (the bomb scare one). My opinion is that on On Stage in NOT worth it.

The sound was terrible, no speakers were pointed near our box and everything sounded muffled. This is a real shame, since the sound is better than ever this tour. I saw one other areana show and one other stadium show and the vocals and guitars and nice and clear.

The lighting rig blocked our entire view of the b-stage. When they were out there is was almost like the show was over.

After they returned from the b-stage, it started to rain. They crew pulled these clear tarps over the band area. So for the rest of the show, even though it stopped raining later, we couldn't see the band very clearly.

On Stage isn't awful. As long as the tarps aren't out you can see the band. Their backs are to you and every now and they turn and wave. When Jagger sings Sympathy he walks up on a catwalk right below the big screen. The entrance is right by Box 7, so I got a real close-up look at him. If you are unhappy, they do have tickets on the field, but you have to ask for them. When I asked, they were unsure of where exactly the seats were.

Two nights later I saw another stadium show in Durham. I had a much better time on the field, I could see everything and hear everything. I even ran down to the b-stage area and got right next to the back of the stage. A much, much better experience than On Stage, in my opinion.

Also, there was one person in our box who didn't get to stand right at the railing. If you ask me, that would totally blow, the guy couldn't even see the band from where he was standing.

I was asked for my opinion. Being escorted caused me to miss 1.5 songs, because they were only equipped to deal with so many people at a time. Valid complaint.

At the moment, I'm not happy with you.

Just to re-iterate my position. I don't whine; I care.

Cheers!

RollingVince,

I wrote a review By ED Quinn ,posted on the 2nd Fenway show in Boston this might give you a little more insight. IMHO, If you are going to Multiple shows in Europe and you get a chance try it. If you are only going to one show don't do it. Someone said earleir in this thread you are forty feet above them thats wrong its more like twenty.

maybe first tier is 20 - I can assure you that I was closer to 40 feet above (then again, I'm tall)....

Thanks for your reactions,
but why do they ask 250$ or euros in Europe instead of 250$ in the US??
