Oasis did a shitkickin' version of Street Fighting Man: Discuss

Yes they did indeed. I dug it out and listened to it not long ago, and it really is a blinding version. I'm really not that great of a fan of Liam's singing, but on this song the vocals do compliment the guitars. Mick n' Keef would be proud I feel.

Anyone else heard this ?

No, you shouldn't do that. What you should do is seek it out and give it an airing. You'd probably love it.

I like it a lot, but it can't touch their version of "My Generation", which I think is amazing.

Noel sings a pretty good version of "Heroes", too.

The one cover of theirs I really don't like is "I Am The Walrus" - maybe just because it's so obvious.

I mentioned this several times in the past. I think it's a great version. My Generation is also a great cover.

Their Version of 'cum on feel the noize' kicks arse too, I think....

which cover of "SF Man" do you mean?

the Jagger/Richards one they put out as a b-side about 8-10 years ago (excellent version too) or the version they tried to re-write under the name "Lyla" and released as a single last year? smiling smiley

Yes, in due course I'd be happy to do that. I say in due course for the following reasons:

I have this song on CD, so I guess I'd need to rip to MP3 format and then post it on sendit.com or whatever that site is - is that right ? Or do you mean, just "make it available" for trade in its current form (that is to say on CD) onthe trade forum. i'd be happy to do that too. I can't do either right at this moment, if only for the fact that I don't have the CD with me, it's at home in UK and I'm in the Algerian Sahara !! But I'll work on it when I get home, no problem.

No, it's on the latter thing you mention here. I know exactly what you mean about Lyla sounding just like SFM when it opens up. It's a few years ago now that I got bought this, I cannot for the life of me remember the title of the Oasis single that this version of SFM is the B side of. Obviously not a very memorable Oasis single, cos' I really haven't got a clue !! (Sorry Oasis fans).

I'm trying to remember, it was definitely from the 'be here now' album, so the singles were end of '97/ early '98. I think it was 'all around the world'. Or maybe 'stand by me'. One of the two.

Yup,methinks the Oasis version is the B-side of 'All Around the World' as Gazza mentioned.

It IS a great version, and, makes a far better stab at good music than the lifeless and utterly woeful A-Side,All around the world. All Around the World,Oasis' worst song? Possibly is,though, since '99 there have been more than just a few vying for that title.

why are we talking about oasis here...they are paltry suck ups....beatle clones, and fair at best...so they take their measily shot at he Stones...get a better thread.....Black Crowes at least have some Bollocks...Oasis make me ill...

probably because its in a thread specifically discussing them - and which has relevance to the Stones. The clue is in the title. Should be easy to avoid
