The last true Stones album............Talk is cheap

The following is hypothetical, so you can relax your sphincters. Reading the post last month on Keith's two solo CDs got me to pull them out and dust them off. TIC is the best of the two IMO. If only this had been a Stones CD! Mick would have polish it up a bit and hearing Charlie and Ronnie's contributions would have only made it a better album. Mick Taylor would even have made an appearance. I prefer TIC to DW or SW. Would love to hear Demon(my favorite Keith song) and 999 record and played live by the Stones. Some could say that songs like "You don't move me" were about Mick. How could he sing it? "Neighours" was about Keith.(I know..Mick sings it). At least we would have a few new Stones riffs from Riffhard! Still think that there is a great (lost) Stones album lurking out there between Mick's and Keith's solos.

most fans think that Talk is Cheap would have been a perfect Stones record if Mick would have had the vocals....as well as Jaggers soloalbum "Wandering Spirit" is called the best Stones album, the Rolling Stones haven`t done.

Indeed both records would have been great success, if they had been published as Stones albums.

between 1988 and 1994 Jagger & Richards have had great songwritings...but it is a shame that this area has just been documented with the average Steel Wheels album...cause TIC and WS are both superior IMO.

Yes, I agreed about "Wandering Spirit." It is IMO Mick's finest solo effort. Other songs from his solos that would have made great Stones songs include: "Throwaway"and "Party Doll."

Talk Is Cheap--great album--closer to what Keith had in mind for Dirty Work, I think before Mick brought in the horrid production.

agree with your commentary on TIC - have often pondered the possibilities of these great tunes with Mick and the others in tow...

Let's see the Stones play the solos tour. Imagine only solo songs on tour. Would be an interesting setlist.

I wish they would do solo songs during their shows." Wired all night" or "Take it so Hard". They do Stones songs during their solo shows. I would like, if they did "I can feel the fire." Sorry, but I feel Ronnie deserves one song after all these years.

Could you imagine "Demon," "Party Doll"(I love that song),or "999"? Live by the Stones?..........Dream on

Damnn....

THIS is the answer... the Stones ought to just go back to the studios sometime and re-work the best songs from both albums into a new stones album...

Who cares, if the music's great the fans will scarf it up, I'd personally love to hear it.

yes TIC and WS are super albums! While SW isn't up to Stones normal standard and WL is good but not great!

as ridiculous as that sounds...that would be awesome.

I also think a cool way to extend to extend some of the live shows, and give Mick a little extra rest, would be to let Ronnie do some of his stuff. Give him a two song slot like Keith. They let Billie preston do it in '75, so there is precedent, and he is a hell of a lot less of a Stone than Ronnie

I've always wished Keith would sing a solo song in his 2 song slot like Joe Perry has done with Aerosmith.

I think the Stones did Keith's "Sure the One You Need" from Ronnie's first album at least once in '75.

ABB is a great album. I feel that it lacks.......Keith. Yes, he plays and sings on it. It is my favorite CD from '05. What is lacking is Keith Riffhard! No intros like Beast of Burden, Flip the Switch, Love is Strong, and countless others. What I'm getting at is, ABB lacks Keith signature strokes. I guess some of us can't be satisfed........IMO

Yeah, TIC and WS would have been great Stones Albums....but they are not. KR and MJ pissed away many good, potentially great songs. A shame.

With that said, The last "true" Stones album, written by MJ and KR like in the old days, came out a few Months ago and it's called "A Bigger Bang". A very good album, in any era, that will age very well with time.

IF. IF, BANG is their last studio album, they ended with an album that kicks you in the nuts, and that is a compliment. All good Stones albums have several tracks that whack your sack and BANG has them.

You know, I saw the thread topic and thought for a moment. As long as the irreducible core of Charlie, Mick and Keith exists, EVERY Stones album it a true one. That tea cup in my hair needs a refill! Ja!
