It's about sealing off our coast here in Eastern Canada. He was in Prince Edward Island Thursday (Fortunately he wasn't doing a concert). The Premier of Newfoundland will be debating him.

smart wife. I say let's brutally slaughter the lot, then.
Yeah, Macca is right. It´s just so stupid in the 21st century that they kill seal babies for ugly old women that just want to wear some fur around their wrinkled neck for some ill fashion reasons.
I think Paul made the goal when discussing with the premier Danny Butthead. Clear arguments against the usual politician stuff (saying yes and no at the same time to satisfy everybody - I don´t know how to explain this more).
What he did say? He was no easy discussion partner for that Premier who insisted that killing seals needed to go on for economical reasons. Also some people benefited from slavery and whale killing, he said. His argument: Something like whale killing became whale watching in many places these days and raises more money this way. So why not try this in Canada with the seals?
Whatever: There is no reason for any intelligent human being to accept that animals are killed just for some piece of fur. By the way: John wore that fur coat - you can see it in the film Let it be and the videos taken from the rooftop concert.
Yes, this slaughtering is a crying shame for us Canadians. (you know these things turned black now! They used to be white, so that was something else of course...)! The seals are weaned all right, but still totally helpless without their mother to protect them. I listened to the news, and it is mostly for exportation to China. The by-products are a ridiculous part of the "deal". This is pure useless barbary. Easy cash. I listened to most of the McCartney interview last night. It was enlightening on his and his wife's part. McC was very cool and they were well-spoken and convincing I thought. He won points in my book. I heard Brigitte Bardot in French saying he had a damn pair of balls (yes, literally: "Il a une sacrée paire de couilles!").
No, it is not the same, and it's not normal because no one NEEDS this. If one human kills another human out of gangsterism or slavery practices, is this normal too? Or he/she decides to wipe out a whole species out of the world biological heritage, just because he feels it's an easy and OK way to make cash, it this normal? If Homo sapiens ever invented something worthwhile it is morals and humanitarian philosophy. That is what me and a whole scene believe in.
McCartney should keep his mouth shut and mind his own business. A lot of people depend economically on the hunt and if the hunt would stop it would mean disaster for the ecosystem. There would be no fish left if the seals would reproduce uncontrolled. Just like other wildlife (deer, moose, bears, etc) here in Canada is being controlled by hunting.
Of course non of the McCartney fans here depend economically on the seal hunt. Would like to here them again when some freak celebrity is trying to take away their income and thus a decent living.
And McCartney of course doesn't give a shit about these people, as he obviously doesn't know what it means to work hard for your money.

seeing has he helped create the worlds biggest/greatest band, was part of that for 7 years and has been a solo act for the last 35, i think he knows something about hard work-just because he isnt out clubbing seals doesnt mean he is a slacker

Calling the Beatles the worlds biggest/greatest band, is a matter of opinion, one I obviously don't share with you.
Working hard and making (too much) money by doing something you LOVE to do (hobby) is obviously not quite the same as working hard in a not so nice and not so well paying job because you have to feed your family every day.
Glimmer - hate to say it - but YOU don't know what you're talking about. I watched the whole King bit and if you bothered to pay attention, you'd realize their is NO economic crisis - there are plenty of proposed workarounds to the "plight" of the sealers.

The label of the worlds greatest band is a matter of opinion for sure, but the "biggest" isnt even up for discussion

Setzer Orchestra? Think he had about 25 in the band at one point.

They missed you Potted Shrimp, de garnalenvissers??
Anyway...we're getting carried away here.
My only point is that the seal hunt is a Canadian affair. As far as I know McCartney is not a Canadian nor does he live in Canada and thus he should keep his nose out of Canadian business and mind his own.
