For those lucky people who have seen the guys during this current tour ,some questions:
1.WHICH is your favourite song from a gig you ATTENDED this tour 2.WHERE the gig was 3.And WHY you chose this song
Okay mine has to be Get off my cloud from the Rio gig.The reason being I think it sounds so fresh and revitalised, and its also the first time I have heard it live.
Tumbling Dice DC-MCI Center Although its a warhorse, the way it starts with just Mick the great guitar, the horns jump in towards the end, Charlie pounding hard, then my fav part is Mick doing the high pitched wooo's with lisa and bernard. It always gives me chills.
dead flowers in toronto and durham, cause each time when i hear that song, i`ve to cry( i heard this song at my first concert, after being 6 years a fan, munich 90)
Fenway shows 8/05 & 1/06 Midnight Rambler - as powerful as any version I've heard live Back Of My Hand - Ron, Mick, Keith all on slide/elctric, beautifully performed new blues they should have kept as a priority in setlists Rain Fall Down - funky groove, good song, dark mood - very powerful Out Of Control - I think the 1st night was the better of the 2, but it was a killer late set highlight, breaking up the string of old hits w/ a unique, late period piece that built in dynamism & intensity - audience dug it too. Night Time is the Right Time - they do a great version, they clearly love playing it, & its the sort of cover they were born to do (live). Oh Yeah!
Fenway - Out Of Control - it was a total surprise, sounded great, and I hadn't seen it since '99. Probably my favorite Stones song of the last 20 years.
MSG - the following block: Oh No Not You Again - new rocker, always welcome Love Is Strong - complete surprise and a loud, sloppy version Rocks Off - one of my top three, if not #1, Stones song. Best version I've heard since the Jan/Feb '73 boots Worried About You - I'd never seen it live before, and it was a lot more dynamic than the 4 Flicks version; love RW's solo and MJ's falsetto & theatrics Rain Fall Down - a breather; another new song that I'd never seen before Midnight Rambler - seeing the Stones play this live is the pinnacle of rock n' roll Tumbling Dice - carried the momentum from Rambler into a good groove Gimme Shelter - smack dab in the middle of the intros. Slow, sleazy version.
The show could have ended there and I would have gone home happy.
Miss You San Diego 11/11/05 from onstage, all I heard was loud blaring guitars while getting a more behind the scenes view of how the B stage movement is handled.
I missed out on Waiting On A Friend,Sway,It Won't Take Long,Mr.Pitiful,Love Is Strong,Ain't Too Proud To Beg,and Worried About You despite going to eight shows this tour to try to avoid missing songs like those so,I can't include them in my review but,of the other songs played on this tour, honorable mention goes to : As Tears Go By;Get Up,Stand Up;She's So Cold;the new songs,Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker);Dead Flowers;Midnight Rambler;Dead Flowers;Rocks Off;Start Me Up (1-15-'06)which took me by surprise; The Worst;and Live With Me.
Thief, I was amazed how much better Start Me Up sounded late in the set, & it wasn't just perception - they just rocked harder, tighter, yet w/ more abandon.
its been posted umteen times already, Hershey - shes so cold , my daughter was so excited they played it & she new i was filmin so shes yellin "turn this up, turn this up" im like cool it sweetheart ,thats her on backup also
As tears Go By knocked me for six at MSG - even though I was kinda expecting to hear it that night
Most consistently well-performed songs - Midnight Rambler and Night Time
Dead Flowers in Houston is probably my favourite individual performance of the entire tour.
Of the new songs, I've enjoyed Rain Fall Down most times I've heard it (the abomination at the AMA show being an unfortunately high-profile exception). Back of My Hand was also very good..I hope they bring it back.
