Check out the schedule...

If you're anywhere near Houston and don't catch JF you're missing an incredible gig.

Ditto all the lucky European fans who are going to have The Stones, The Chili Peppers AND John Fogerty this Summer !!

Saw Fogerty last summer on Mellencamp/Fogerty tour. Great concert. Don't miss JF if he's in your area.

A long time friend of mine called me last summer to ask if I wanted to see the show that he had an extra ticket and said yes definately.

The show was at Darien Lake with John Mellencamp in July.

He says that ever since I turned him on to Creedence when we were teenagers he has loved them. Of course he loved the show. Fogerty opened for Mellencamp. I especially liked the part when Mellencamp brought out Fogerty to play a couple of songs during his set.

I thought the show was ok. I liked Mellencamps show better. I think that I still have a resentment towards Fogerty for not bringing the surviving members of CCR into the fold. Very selfish on his part. Its kind of like seeing Robert Plant without Zeppelin. There is a missing element.

And after all the bashing with his former producer I hear now he has reconciled? Is this true?

I just wonder if this was a "full set" of JF if he was opening for someone else... on the last tour he played like 24+ song sets, couple hours plus...

With Mellancamp it may have been a "truncated" version ?

I've always agreed with this, but it doesn't take away from his musicianship. If you catch his life story there's alot of childhood conflicts with his father, it's like the first 50 years of his life he deliberately tried NOT to form contacts with people it seems.

And I just have to believe that if Creedence had stayed together they'd be a much bigger band than J.F. touring on his own or the other guys touring as Revisited.

Well he's under contract to Fantasy records now that Saul Zantz is out of there. Fogerty always thought Zantz had screwed him on a bunch of record deals.

Whether he will re-unite with Cos & Stu is another question, but the interesting thing is that Cos & Stu are at least as "ready to go" as John is, they've been playing their ass off for the past 10 years too so it's probably really up to Fogerty...

He could probably make a fortune with a Creedence tour, I would think, and the fans would go NUTS... it would be like a "dead band" comes back to life really. They all play great now, as good as they ever did, what a tour that would be.

You really think so? I don't. I think the name "John Fogerty" carries just about as much cache as "CCR" reunited would. In other words, I don't think he'd be playing any bigger venues than he already is.

Saw him in 2004 in San Diego. If you see John Fogherty, you're seeing CCR. He mostly does old CCR songs, and w/ his playing and vocals, you're pretty much hearing CCR and it sounds darn good. He had added a few songs that are a too backwoods countryfied for my taste, but on the whole a solid set.

BOTB,

I can see your a big fan and I'm not trying to step on your post, but I think the Fogerty carries some heavy grudges that he cannot "get over". That can be understandable if everyone knew exactly what those grudges were.

But when his new wife helped him (with emotional support) to go out and play CCR songs again, we all were supposed to hug him and reciprocate his "emotional rescue".

But at the RNR hall of fame he refused to play with Stu & Cos and also in the future, I think that was a childish act of selfishness that as a fan, and longtime listener, I have a problem with. Now it may have something to do with his brother Tom, who I think he was estranged with also before he died. I don't know. But he has made it very public and I think he owes his fans an thorough explanation.

The show was good but again, those are CCR songs and his band did play a part whether he wants all the credit or not. Would I pay to see it again, probably not. But for free, I would go.

As I get it, he felt "abandoned" by his father, and screwed out of his own songwriting credits by his record label.

I did too... but that's Fogerty... he has a deep seam of that and for whatever "unmeltable" reason he has so far just refused to play with Cos and Stu again. And it definitely is childish because it has to stem from sh*t that went down between them over 30 years ago... WHO CARES ANYMORE... but he still seems to... either that or he's just "moved on"...

But you might ask, if he's moved on why does he keep playing 90% Creedence era songs.

Obviously he probably did 75% of the work in Creedence, and got 25% of the pay PLUS a royal-screwing on his record deals, at least in his mind.

I remember that Bruce Springsteen had a similar spat with his management and just more or less refused to play or record for like 3 years.

So, "hell hath no fury like a musician screwed by his managers".

I just think that from a pure "dollars and cents" standpoint, a Creedence reunion tour COULD be a massive global tour. No guarantees but there's alot of love for this band. At the first CCRevisited show I went to honestly 1/2 the audience was high schoolers... even the youngest kids seem to know this band. Maybe with the new Fantasy Records management they may make JF "a deal he can't refuse" to tour as CCR again.

Hi all,
I'm a huge JF fan and loved his show at the Tower Theater in '03. After everything I've heard and read about CCR, I totally side with John on this one. The other three sided with Saul Zantz (the head of Fantasy Records which was CCR's label) against JF in some real lowdown, inside the industry stuff involving royalties and such. Since these guys basically wouldn't have a job without JF, (he wrote every quality CCR tune. When he let the others write for their last album, the band went right down the shitter.), it seems entirely appropriate to act the way he did.

Just my three cents.

Peace...Shawn

CCrevisited has passed through here a couple of times but I did not get the chance to check it out.

How was it? How did it sound? Any comments by Stu & Cos?

They kick ass... one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Seen them prolly 5 times. Their CD "Recollection" is just 99% brilliant too.

Fogerty rocks live and he sounds great. A very underrated musician. Love him. See him if you have not.

Bingo, right on the money. I think he has a good reason to be mad at them and not play with them. I don't miss them - the rhythm section Fogerty had playing with him when I saw them was quite good. Fogerty was CCR - he wrote and sang all the songs (all the good ones, anyway) and played lead guitar.

look at it this way: do you think the name Mick Jagger carries as much weight as the Rolling Stones?

Just like Zeppelin was only Robert Plant. He didn't need Page, Jones, or Bonham. Rhythm sections are only session players, totally expendable.

I forgot Fogerty wrote the bass licks, drum beats, and the rhythm notes.
