I never thought I'd say this, but probably Brown Sugar. Ever since Julliard, it's sounded great this tour. It's not rushed, they jam on it at the end . . . reminds me more of the studio version than in recent tours.

I liked the anthem version of Paint it Black.
Sweet Virginia was the best song I saw for the first time.

JJF from RIO, and, as I have not heard anything else, MRambler from there was pretty damn hot too....they way it broke down in the middle and then picked itslef up again....normal, but "abnormally" great...if you get my drift.

I like Mr. Pitiful.

I was pleasantly surprised by As Tears Go By.It's not my favourite song but,it was very enjoyable live.It's good to see them perform something that you can tell they put some hard work and effort into as opposed to some other songs that they've been playing.She's So Cold has been better than I expected it to be & it's too bad so many people missed out on Get Up,Stand Up.Dead Flowers was great in Durham as well.

Night Time twice was a major highlight, so it's right up there...

Somehow the "basics" this tour just sound fantastic, especially Jumpin' Jack Flash and Satisfaction... JJF was alot better 1st leg when it was an encore and they dragged it out a bit...

As Tears Go By was really special too.... tremendous really.

Haven't seen a show yet but judging from bootlegs Midnight Rambler is alway a highlight and Night Time gets me going everytime i hear it!!!!

Get Up/Stand Up...Jagger even had the Marley steps down

I don't get this....all the great Stones originals and 7 out of 15 of these posts gives a cover song. I love hearing the Stones do anything, but I would MUCH prefer one of their own songs..that's why I think most of us go, for those Jagger/Richards masterpieces...they have so many great originals, why would you want to choose a cover song/

I did not listen to many shows yet, but right now I'd choose 19th Nervous Breakdown (bluesy version) MSG 05. Out on a great new DAC in exc audience. Recommended.

Midnight Rambler

I only saw one show this tour, Atlanta October 15, and Paint It Black was great. It was without question my favorite song of the concert, in my most humblest of opinions.

Every show I have seen and I have seen several on this tour, I have been blessed to hear Midnight Rambler. THE BEST Song every night. JJF and Paint It, Black are not far behind. All Down the Line is great when Ronnie's slide solo is on, otherwise it could end up like Tumbling Dice or Can't Always Get which can be an absolute MESS.

Good point tommyquinn..but while I have seen the Stones do their own material numerous times, I have never seen them do Get Up/Stand Up so when I did see it
it came as a welcome surprise in an otherwise predictable setlist....

for me...it has to be GOMC....jagger really gives it a new life and the fans love it on the b stage...

the other 2 are BACK OF MY HAND AND ONNYA both i think come off better live than on the record...

LOVE IS STRONG(surprisingly, I am not a big fan of the recorded version).
ROCKS OFF in Boston(finally they got it right and Mick didn't screw up the words...)

Most disapointing: As Tears Go By..great to hear, but just doesn't seem to gel..

The section reserved for the "cool" songs (songs 5-9 circa) before introductions. When they do "Worried Bout You" that I nominbate as best overall tune. But the best rendition of any tune I have heard so far is "Midnight Rambler" in Atlanta.

if I can give a personal perspective, its because the covers are "fresh" whereas the Stones songs are now over-familiar. Very few songs played on this tour are new to the show or have been missing for a long time (unlike previous tours). This was certainly more so early on in the tour.

I should have added As Tears Go By to my original post. Like Thief, its not a personal favourite but seeing and hearing that when they did it at MSG REALLY got to me in a way that no other Stones song I've seen played live has in a very long time.

i agree the covers are a lot of fun...when we where in memphis and got to hang w/ Bernad...i did say to him that i really enjoy the covers ..ie: night time.....and also the new album . he seemed to like that......as tears go by was great...when i wrote the post i was listening to Gimme shelter off teh msg 1-18 boot.....i guess i could said a number of tunes......

of coarse Midnight Rambler is always great..

Funny though that many of the songs people think are the best this tour have either been dropped from the set list or are not played too often. The media just bills them as a band playing the same greatest hits set and they are right. The songs I list above are by no means rarities but to a Stones fan anything that is not Satisfaction, SMU, BS, JJF is a rarity.
