the band that sang i might like you better if we slept together theres someting in my heart that sats maybe whats the name of the band? they threw tomatos at her in concert here in ny.
Madonna is bigger now but has had the same impact. Tina doesnt come close to Micks impact. They (Madonna and Mick) are both egomaniacs and though they are white they don't belong to anyone but their (black and white and green) fans and the world. Turner has fans, Madonna is an icon. Mick too.
And oh yeah, they think they aren't white but in reality they are probably quite conservative or would like to be. Kinda shallow. Just the icon identety no real persona in public.
I wanted to say Madonna but I was afraid I would be banned from expressing an opinion again! Now that it's already been mentioned, Madonna comes the closest but again she always was very careful about everything she did, knew what of impact she had, like Mick is now. Mick got famous at a time that nobody knew how to play the game, one learned from the other's mistakes, still he was one of the first to play it! Madonna knew exactly what to do from the day she decided she wanted to be a star, she never really took any risks. That doesn't make anyone less of a star and they've both been controversial figures. That's how I see it anyway.
Who the f*ck is Mick Jagger?

I'd say some weird genetic splicing of Tina Turner & Madonna. With Tina, you get the onstage performance, the sexuality, and the longevity. She's also got an incredible voice. But with Madonna, you get the controversy, the theatrics, and the cultural signifigance.
I think Patti Smith is more like the female equivalent of Keith.
