All perfectly valid points--unfortunately, and this is not limited to the Stones, the cd format dictates 70 minute discs and the producer is not going to impact that. Actually, I quite like the production on ABB--it is not pristine, muddy, perhaps at points, but it, to my ears at least make it sound more real.
I like Bridges to Babylon but sometimes it is a bit too antiseptic in spots.
Whose decision was it to leave off Under The Radar? That was inexcusable--I think that should have been the first single--it has that classic Stones sound yet still comes across as contemporary. The Child of the Moon argument, to me, at least is invalid because that is not a song most people, certainly the ones a single is targeted at, are familiar with.
As for the tour---I am somewhat certain I am not going to shell out another $700. to see JJ Flash Brown Sugar and all the other war horse again for the 9th time--what would be the point? I read BV's post about different crowds etc and while that is an interesting perspective--it is from the band's perspective, not the fans. After seeing them 8x with far too similar set lists it begins to take away from the experience--especially given the catalogue this band has at it's disposal.
Which reminds me--why couldn't they have kept Can't You Hear Me Knocking in the set make that one of the jam songs instead of say Miss You
Of course, I may have made similar comments after Licks---lol
