I guess an ancient british term is "frigging", same as wanking. An old british sailor`s song goes "Friggin`in the riggin`cause there`s @#$%& all else to do", meaning if you cross the friggin`sea and there`s no wind in your sail, what are you gonna do? The term "friggin`" is still used widely in the UK as of now, as an alternative to "@#$%&" as a fill-in. I may be wrong, any Brit out there to correct me? Anyway, "Ilove my wive, I love her dearly, .....

From what language is it? I have never heard that term...must be English if the initials mean what Wuudy says. I think "y'all" are making up stuff now.
Sometimes I think it is as Bjornulf indicated...if we use "those words" frequently, our vocabulary list must be limited. Bjornulf is also referring to Freud and Erikson's devlopmental tasks according to our age or stage in life.

What does "@#$%&" mean? seems to have gone off-topic somewhat.

Having lived both sides of the Atlantic I can understand the confusion to a non-British person. My best definition is calling someone an a**hole, that's my best translation to US English. Thus this would mean that someone had been unhelpful, unrespectful and/or a total idiot.
There are MANY different terms that cause confusion to diffeent users of the English language, my favorite (or should I say favourite) is a long shag. In the US it's a haircut style, in the UK it could mean a Austin Powers get together with a beautful lady LOL
