U2 are U2. The Stones are the Stones. That's it.

say what you will about u2, they play with the original four since the start
and only the four playing live , unlike the stones who practicly need an
orchestra on stage with them these days, and no , there are no people hiding backstage at u2 shows playing instruments ok, that is and always has been a myth, but i still like the stones ten times more, go figure

When U2 came to town (D.C.), I read that they played a musical version of the 40th Psalm at the end of the show...I don't know what the 40th Psalm IS (I'm ignorant), but I'm not sure I need to see it played at a "Rock" show. Further, both Reps. and Dems. used the occaision for fund-raisers...I wasn't sure what to make of that either...I'm not sure I would want to attend an event that "Christian Conservatives" would deem fit for a fund-raising event. Oh well, I guess there is something to be said for good old fashioned sex, drugs, and Rock'n'Roll!!!

You're not familiar with "40" ? This was a standard set-closer for many years. Always loved the bassline on that.

In my opinion Edge plays in a very monotonous and flat way. I appreciate U2 music from the years 1983- 1991, but as live act ...nothing special. I had seen them twice, in 1997. Mediocre or a bit more than mediocre shows. No comparisons with the Stones.

Thanks for the info Bassplayer, I did write that I was IGNORANT. It just seemed odd the way the guy in the paper wrote it up. I'm enlightened...thanks again.

P.S.: My brother is a Bass Player, too.

So we've just seen from the Rio performance what the Stones are still able to do, and maybe it's time to stop this U2 thing on this board... tonight's performance have displayed how much the Stones just top everyone else as far as performing on stage is concerned. To be fair, U2 shouldn't even be mentioned on a Stones board, Jagger and the boys are light years ahead.
