it is obvious i have sounded like a besserwisser but that was not my aim.!

I was just bringing up some topic, that I was in understanding with, as most of the topics i feel a little confused, maybe language problem and all that..!

what i felt was interesting is that I have no idea if stones use "ninth" in that case, most surely not: But as you CrisM, I play in band, and have used this chord and feel it feels right.

richter informed me:

Rank outsider
"there is more to the stones than keith, so what he does or doesnt not play does not tell everything on chord structures of stones songs,
ronnie playes chords, keybord plays chords, even the horns can play cord notes, the backupsigners can sing in chords. so it is the overall chordical sound that we are discussing"

Ya, I undersatnd that ricter, but, the reason people are having such a difficult time figuring out what the "chords" are in this song is because the guitar parts are layered on top one another as to make this more difficult to hear. And THAT is mainly caused by what Keith does/doesn't play. People are 'hearing' the overall chrodal sounds which are actually made up of several differnt parts. (see my other post).

And there's no way it's D-minor. duh.

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.

mathijs, kohen and stickyfinger " I've always thought the D's are major, not
> 7th. " boys that is a incredible statement, are you allright? it is not a "one and not the other" case !
it can be both, ie major seventh it is as simple as that..

am I not worth furter comments boys ? I dont believe you are the arrogant type of people that just ingnore the topic cause you are wrong...

mathijs : you have been so eager to inform us on the stones music, as well as the tecnical aspect of the stones instruments, through the time : you have nothn to say ?

----------------------------------------

I feel sometimes sad how the topics fade out, cause we just answer from the our side, instead of kind of lead the topic forward, ie drawing the sentences out of the other people, by asking questions etc. like experienced tv program people do.. we are not very much interested in the other people, just ourselves.. ???

whatchja think?

Well, I don't know what your trying to say. The D, G, and A's are all major, the B is major too although Wood likes to make it a 7th once in a while (especially on the '89 tour). I don't fully understand where your trying to get with the A9's and all.

What the risk of being chastised, as said before, what's in that diagram is an Asus2, an A9 looks like this:

- - X - - -
- X - - - -
- - - X - -
- X - - - -
- - - - - -
- - - - - -

all my notes are included in your diagram koen...right ?
i realise you show other notes as well like the g note 7th, but as we know sometimes guitarcords can be that complex that you have to omit some notes for practical purpose

Yes, beautiful, well done. But what do you mean? The Stones play an Amajor, and of course, you can play any lick or expend th Amajor chord as long as it is in the major key. The A9 you show indeed is an Asus2, not an A9. An Asus2 would give it a Spanish flavour, and I can imagine it would fit the '89 version with the gut stringed electro-acoustic. But on the original version, it's an Amajor.

instead of playin a stragiht A major chord I omit the c# note and play the B note (9nth) instead.

that is all A ninth instead of straight A

In that case would call it an Aadd9, see eg: [www.8notes.com] winking smiley

all the notes in what you call Aadd9 are includ in A9, so it sounds the same in my ears, Koen, just a question of broadness.. !
