I have seen this in cinema.Mick looks older there and doesn't remind at me at least Mick! However the movie wants to be serious and dramatic but it turns very hilarious.

Mick proves beyond a doubt he can act.His performance, along with the late great James Coburn makes this movie worth watching. Check out the scene when Angelica Huston's character reject's Mick's (character) marriage proposal.Oscar worthy. I think USA TODAY that year had a list of over-looked oscar-performances, Mick Jagger role in this movie was mention (as a supporting actor).

Sounds really interesting.... here's a few quotes from Amazon (one day I'll do a days work!)

And it has a glorious casting inspiration: the director of the mysterious escort service is played by Mick Jagger, looking decadently elegant and purring like a vaguely satanic Siamese cat.

Splendid performance from Mick Jagger--he redeemed this film for me--displacedhuman

Mick Jagger as the articulate, whiskey-sipping proprietor of Elysian Fields was an unexpected and delightful surprise.

while the real revelation is Mick Jagger who does an excellent job as the devilish pimp.

Mick Jagger action is amazingly good

Great, great acting from Jagger, Houston, and Coburn. Too bad the script stinks.

It's not a terrible movie. Jagger is the best thing about it, which was the last thing I was expecting. It's a good story that never really comes together on film. I think it's worth tracking down and sitting though it just to check out Jagger, if you're a fan.

I just saw "Freejack" a couple of nights ago. That movie was hilarious for all the wrong reasons though not as bizarre as "Ned Kelly".

Elysian Fields is a far better film than Freejack, & worth checking out, with a solid performance from Jagger.

I liked the movie. The plot line was better than I expected and the stunned reaction from Mick, when he tries tries to get Angelica Huston to leave her husband for him, was some of the best acting I've seen in a long time.

I've been thinking about watching this movie again myself. I strongly recommend it. I also agree with Kienan and Goldsmith above, that the scene of Jagger trying to hide his disappointment was superb. When the movie came out there was a very good television interview on PBS of Jagger by Charlie Rose. They discussed the movie and showed a clip of the "stunned reaction" scene.

Even if you are not a Stones fan, I think the movie is worth watching.
Jagger holds his own as an actor. He's come a long way since Ned Kelly, my friends.

Y'all have a nice day.

I didn't think his acting was that great. He looked like he was acting, I couldn't suspend disbelief and buy into it that he WAS that character. I'm still a fan of his though, but thats just my reaction to the movie

It wasn't a memorable movie,BUT Mick was memorable! He was very good, to my surprise! Yes, he was great and if you've seen "Running out of luck" or "Ned Kelly" you'll be surprised too! Check it out

Who the f*ck is Mick Jagger?

i liked the movie - I agree that scene where Mick is rejected is priceless - his reaction was so "real."

OT: Just caught Pierce Brosnan in "The Matador." Highly recommended. Brosnan is wonderful in this....no James Bond here.

I saw it. It was only 1 week in dutch cinemas at the time but I managed to rent a copy. As with all Jagger movies it's pretty bad, though not as bad as the others. But that's why I love to see those Jagger movies. I still think the ultimate Jagger movie is the long video to "She's the boss".

I LOVE this movie and even bought the DVD ( Go to Amazon.com to order).I rented it first in case it was BAD but what a surprise. I love Andy Garcia as an actor anyway but Mick is just amazing! Although I always loved his part in PERFORMANCE, some of the other roles he's played, like the GIRLY-MAN in Bent were odd! I own FREEJACK and NED KELLY but don't watch them! This movie I've watched a few times with friends who also loved it! My best pal, who has never quite understood my adoration of Mick, called to tell me how surprised and thrilled she was at his performance in this film! Check it out, you'll forget you're watching Sir Mick.

Mick's second best acting role after 'Performance'. Although that was a far superior film 'Elysian Fields' is good. Once or twice I felt my suspension of disbelief break and felt I was watching Jagger act but most of the time he was very believable and even quite moving in the scene mentioned above.

I think it can be difficult at times to forget it's Mick that we're watching because it's built in to most of us to expect Mick to BE a certain way. Tseverin is right, you can catch yourself saying " but that's MICK JAGGER, not the owner of an escort service. It's not because he's not convincing, it's because we're STONES FANS watching our favorite lead singer playing a role we're not accustomed to seeing.

Yeah, Elysian Fields is by far his best movie. I like "Ned Kelly" after this. "Ned Kelly" is some of the best camp I've ever seen in a movie.

It's a fine movie, nothing special, just interesting and amusing.Jagger's performance is amazing.I gotta admitt that he pleasantly surprised me.If I hadn't known it was Mick Jagger,I would have thought that it was some professional actor. He was more than convincing.

I've seen the movie quite a few times. The first time I was channel surfing and didn't even know Mick was in it. I began watching it because I like Andy Garcia. I think it was a really good, but very melancholy movie. Mick did deserve the best supporting actor on this one and it's a shame he was overlooked. But even the academy probably looked at him not as the person he played in the film, but as Mick, the rock star, whose life in the film was totally opposite how he really lives and has no problems with women throwing themselves at him.

I haven't yet bought the DVD only because I keep forgetting, but it was an excellent dramatic flick that neither he nor Garcia got the credit they should have been given for it.
