And then just pulling of the D string at the 9th fret. I know he's in the 7th fret position because you can see it on video's of shows. Tabs on internet say he's playing a regular D5 chord but that's not true. But it doesn't quite sound like Keith. Anyone got an idea?
I think the abb version is in open g. I was surprised to see Keith played it in standard tuning. It is just another way to play so it doesn't matter. The opening riff is just the same as on abb except you only use the D,G and B strings.
I don't have seen many videos from this tour, but as he plays on the Fat-Bottom Hollowbody Gibson I assume he plays in standard tuning. He plays it based on the figure you tabbed here, Reptile, but playing only the D,G and B strings as Wuudy said.
Both stdio and live its standard tuning. Play a D chord, then add the F and F# on the A-string (so you play Dpentatonic minor). That's is. It's quite remeniscent to the riff of Lies from Some Girls.
If you can even compliment it with the title 'riff', it's one of their most shallow, insubstantialand vacuous guitar phrases to ever (dis)grace a Stones's song or album.
Give me (sweet little) Lies any day of the century.

D penatonic minor isn't a chord you fool. It's a scale. And besides the D penatonic minor scale doesn't even have a F# in it. I knew you were a big bull s***ter. Yup your ARE remeniscent of LIES

You can't read apperently. Which Buffalo barn were you born in? I never said the scale is a chord. You can see the riff as being pent. minor with the F# as a blue note, or as pent.major with the F as blue note. The song follows the minor scale (especially due to the pronounced G), so I prefer to see the riff as being minor.
Mathijs, you're terrific. That's it. Thanks allot. You seem to be the only one who can help me... There's guys here that think it's in open G and the first chords is a C...

Wow dude; A little testy. You remind me of the when they acused the king of having any clothing on. BUSTED! Your true colors shine. WRONG AGAIN F# is not the blue note for the d minor penatonic. it's G#. Wow guy maybe you should just give it up.

Yes i have. I've showed that you are not the legend in your own mind that you think you are. Have a nice day. And practice, practice practice. You need to. Bye dude.

Unfortunately, as usual you didn't show anything. And how come you think that I am a legend, if you're only on this board for a month? Have we ever met? Did we ever have contact with eachother before?
WOW GUY!! Are you senitive. Very thin skinned. I never said you were a legend. You better read a little slower!! Be a man and just walk away. You lost the argument and can't bow down to defeat. I guarentee you will post again like a little boy.
Peace Peace. Who is fighting and what for? No reason to start WW III just because of the RJ riff. Please show some respect and the world will be easier to live in. I made it fine in Rio where some say 3 out of 4 are robbed, but then people start a riot about a chord. I just can't believe it. Shake hands and respect. This is not the Olympics of Stones chord masters...
WNY Stones, there are also some boards and chat rooms for little children. Give it a shot maybe you find some people there of your own age because were trying to be act like adults here.

All Im trying to do is explain that his musical interpretations is not correct to the intro. As i explained earlier he was totally wrong on this subject. No need to get defensive. There are alot of people that takes a person's word as gospel. In many cases it isn't correct as his assesment to Rough Justice. ELMO LEWIS Hit it right on the head. He is correct when it comes to this scale. You can ask any qualified guitarist and they will tell you the same. 69-72 listen to the other guitarist on this board. Many of them have vast knowledge of the instrument and theory.

Well then you have a very unorthodox way of explaining. Screaming, whining and cursing won't help you a lot to get your point proven.
You mean regarding the pentatonic minor scale? As far as I know it doesn't have a flattened 5th. However the pentatonic blues scale does have the flattened 5th. Check it out: [en.wikipedia.org] .
