the world tour was in 1983 - saw two shows - still some of my all-time favorite shows. the album that was released to coincide (Ark) was only so-so. and valentine was practically non-existant on stage. They hired a hot shot young guitar player named Steve Grant to cover for him. They released a horribly produced 1cd album from the tour. There is a fine 2cd set boot from the Poughkeepsie show that circulates - a much better tour document.

he just recently fired his touring band of many years. big hub-bub surrounding all this. his current band is all new members.
They ARE on tour and will be in Great Barrington, Ma in July at the Mahaiwe Theatre, can't wait to see him! This is a small venue, maybe 3000 seats if that. Anyone who lives cose by should call the Mahaiwe for info. Email me for the real dates and times and I'l find out; it was just in the local papers last week.
They had a "reunion" album in the mid seventies called "Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted" that I absolutely wore out back in the day. It was superbly produced by Chas Chandler, Eric was in great voice. It had a great "setlist" of bluesy standards (As THe Crow Flies, Lonely Avenue, etc.), and an exceptional version of "Its All Over Now Baby Blue". Great stuff!
I only have this on vinyl. Thanks to this thread I'm now in search of it on CD!
I had the pleasure of catching a few Eric Burden shows in Houston in the 80's. He was still great at that point. Would love to see him again!
it's available on CD, Ross....was re-issued a couple of years back. I agree, a great album - took a few years to come out originally after it was recorded. My all-time fave version of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross" is on this.
