WarHorse ratings...

We have all had our moment (some more than others) to bitch about the set list and wish that [insert your gem here] was played instead of [insert warhorse here], but have we actually listened to said warhorses lately. They are pretty freakin' good songs.

So in an effort to get some people talking about them, how would you rate the warhorses?

We might differ as to what qualifies, but i think to a "casual" Stones fan the classics would rate somthing like:

Satisfaction

Honky Tonk Women - Jumping Jack Flash

Brown Sugar

Tumbling Dice - It's Only Rock and Roll

Midnight Rambler - Gimme Shelter

Sympathy For the Devil

For me I would rate them like this:

1) Honky Tonk Women

2) Brown Sugar

3) Jumping Jack Flash

4) Satisfaction

5) Midnight Rambler

6) Tumbling Dice

7) It's Only Rock & Roll

8) Sympathy for the Devil

9) Gimmer Shelter

I didnt include Start Me up because for me, when i started recognizing Stones classics, that song didnt exist(!), so it will never be in that group.

Anyway, I can see this thread dying a quick death or gathering steam and reaching "hair implant" territory.

which will it be?

Midnight Rambler isn't a warhorse. However, I would say Happy might be one. It is on 40 Licks and Keith deserves at least one warhorse, and Happy would be it.

1. Jumpin' Jack Flash
2. Brown Sugar
3. Gimme Shelter
4. Start Me Up
5. Satisfaction
6. Tumblin' Dice
7. Sympathy
8. IORR
9. You Got Me Rocking (it's sort of a warhorse now-a-days)
10. Street Fighting Man

I did not include Honky Tonk Women b/c I am so tired of that song. If I could pick one song to be dropped from the set, that would be it. I would rather the Stones sing a Hanson song than Honky Tonk Women. I wish they would replace it with Under My Thumb or play Let's Spend The Night Together more often.

Love most of them. On the ABB tour, though, Sympathy has been, without a doubt, the WORST warhorse of them all. WHERE ARE THE GUITARS?!!

I saw SF1 and Keith played better leads than I had seen on SFTD ever before.
I agree it would be nice to hear less horns & keyboard and more guitars.
Charlie is doing just fine.

1 Brown Sugar
2 Start Me Up
3 Honky Tonk Women
4) Jumping Jack Flash
5) Satisfaction
6) Gimme Shelter
7) Midnight Rambler
8) Tumbling Dice
9) Street Fighting Man
10)It's Only Rock & Roll
11) Sympathy for the Devil (really boring nowadays)

Would love to see Out Of Control, Saint Of Me and Don't Stop in that list, for me THE "new songs" of the last two decades that worked great live. Rough Justice also has that potential.
