Well, surrounded by these clean and straight - Beatles sounding - neighbours, I suppose someone needs take the burden of being the black lamb: we Finns are on doping, generally. That's what we learn before we even learn to walk: "take one of these pills before you do anything", In school we are always taught that "don't forget take your daily medicine" Later, when we are allowed to the bar: "If you drink alcohol, be sure that there is at least some hemohes included"....

Seriously, I didn't know that USA is the part of Eastern Europesmiling smiley

Thank god Keith has never used doping. If he had doped during the Exile sessions that album propably would have sucked....

I´m not too keen either at sport generally or
international Championships specifically; esp. like here
when they make unnecessary international 'conflicts' evolve.
Nationalism is like cancer imho.

But I hope the Swedes will keep on takin medals smiling smiley...

I am so, so happy that Evgeni Plushenko won the Gold last night. I always thought he was a great ice dancer, always great music, landing jumps and spins. I am so pleased.
He really had a tough time living away from his parents since the age of 11 yrs old so he could make it. His parents lived on trading in cans just to eat. If anyone desevered to win, It was him for sure. God Bless him.

Tonight is the Female's skating. Love watching them put everything in that they have worked so hard for.

BTW- I am American, Born and Raised in Boston, Mass. I never go by the country at all. I just go by who I think is really great and deserving. Just like the time Oksana won Gold and the American, Nancy Kerigan or whater its spelled came in second. She was a witch and I went to see her with my mom at Champions on Ice and I was sitting near Nancy parents. I went up and gave roses to Oksana. I did boo at Nancy. I think she is rude and not worthy of anything.

Baboon Bro, I think sport is a great way for people to show emotions for their country. It's so innocent with sports. Even though some countries are better in that or that sport, they have the same equipment at the start-line. 2 arms and 2 feet.
I don't believe that people interested in wintersport, or other "country vs. country"-sport is more judgefull (is that a word?) to other countries, than the rest. Perhaps even less. They use up their nationalism-energy on games/fun/sport instead of the real life.

Curling. Now, that's what I call sports!

Baboon Bro and Erik Snow, good insights you guys have. I agree with Erik that sports is quite innocent way express your national feelings, etc. It really gathers more people together than it seperates (like The Stones here in this forum). For example, an art form called 'foot ball' has the rules that are shared internationally and that's almost an unique phenemenon. It really has the language everyone understands. Some @#$%& hooligans are just a marginal phenomenon in a big picture, and those sort accusations are often used in the arguments of narrow minded anti-sports people.

As for myself, nothing is so thrilling and interesting than Finland and Sweden facing each other in ice hockey. Those matches are always spectacles, big games; there is so much involved - all that tension between those countries - but that's nothing to do with really hatred, aggressive feelings etc. It's just fun. Like brothers on a play ground (even though we Finns think that all the Swedish men, and especially Mats Sundin, are homo sexualssmiling smiley - not that there is nothing wrong with being guy, it's just one of thopse crazy myths shared by all Finns!)

By the way, congratulations for Swedish female ice hockey for getting into final! You won a great team.

My small home countrie really shows that we have some fantastic athletes!
We are number two now in the medals ranking! Norway is number 10 and the best Scandinavian country - you guys can't compete agains us, not even in cross country skiing now grinning smiley

The drug raids definitely gave us a bad image now, but that could've happened with any team and the majority are just excellent and hard-working athletes.

I must admit that some of the sexiest female contortionists are the figure skaters. All skin and bones and makeup.

Can't wait for the female skaters tonight.
