Was it as good as the Superbowl?

Better. Ronnie played like 1975. He killed every song last night. The whiners will have nothing to bitch about!

Ronnie played guitar like he did in '75? Okay - I wasn't there. Let's get that out of the way. But comments like that are just not credible. The man has been on a slow downward spiral for 30 years and suddenly he - for one night, no less - is able to recapture his chops from 3 decades ago....yeah, sure...happens all the time.

you know ronnie wood was never Duane Allman, or jeff beck or eric clapton or dhgango riehhart!!! the sum of the parts is what the stones are about..i have been to 40 shows ...some classic some great but never a bad time ....downward sprial is a bit much T&A why would it not be credable???......the stones where never steely Dan or whomever the perfect studio band is ..just so lame to here the same old wood crap.....

I think you missed my point. Nobody in this band sings or plays like they did in 1975 (I say it's a downward spiral in Ronnie's case - ok, maybe that's a matter of opinion). But, if I were to say, hey Keith nailed the SFTD solo and it sounded just like the Ya-Ya's version, you'd know right away I was full of shite. So, when I hear someone say Ronnie played like he did in '75, I'm immediately dismissing it and anything else that comes after it....

That's fine, because I dismiss your depressed rantings and crapfests as well. I am sorry you are such an unhappy individual.

Perhaps you should read the reviews on the other boards before passing judgement and shitting on Ronnie once again.

Ah, rather than have a rational discussion about the band, you'd rather trade personal insults. in that case - your mother wears combat boots!

He played great! Excellent on "Sway" and "Rambler" among others.

Human being are weird speices. Any time they can
just go - BOOM - and they´re On again.
I trust Elmo´s words, 100%.
Glad you survived, ol´Georgia mate.
Guess you´re pleased & found the show more than ok?

Tons of fun! Pretty ladies everywhere. I came in 2nd place in the Mick Jagger dance contest at Jock and Jill's before the show. Got to meet drake and ohnonotyouagain. Great guys. Just got home. Feel like ^%$&, but worth every bit of it. Couldn't believe we got to see "Sway" and "Worried About You". I'd never seen the band do those before. Will post more later when I feel a little better.

T&a i never saw them in 75'....i actually think they where better in 89 then 81......and honsetly the show at MSG on th20th of jan was as good as any...maybe even the top 3....they will never play SFTD like Ya's ya's again...i think that is one of the great versions of all time...i just dont get the harsh treatment of Mr. wood....

I'd like to hear the show before passing judgement on Ronnie's playing but my immeidate reaction to a statement like "Ronnie played like 1975" is that it is hyperbole in the extreme. He hasn't played like he did in 1975 since, well, 1975 and that statement is in no way meant to be pejorative either. And Steven, I happen to know the redoubtable T&A and he is anything but an unhappy individual, in fact we all know him in these parts as Mr. Happy!

i don't think it's "harsh treatment." I think you can have a rational discourse without it being just a Ronnie bashing thing. I agree they will never play SFTD like they did in '69...that's fine. I was reacting to basically the same thing....Ronnie will NEVER play like he did in '75. You can like his playing or not (doesn't matter to me) - but to make a statement like that is just not credible. It tells me you are either unable to hear well or are being ridiculously hyperbolic....either way, such a pronouncement lacks credibility.

I don't get all this Ronnie jive. My personal opinion is that if Ronnie was not up to standard Mick,Keith and Charlie wouldn't carry dead wood. (no pun intended)Other bands have sacked members who cannot keep up with their standards. What comes to mind right now Bon Jovis Alec Such.
But Ronnie me old mucker is still there. Surely that tells us something.
Give em hell Ronnie boy.

Time to move on. Read the reviews. What's the issue?

I don't there is any issue. As always, I'm interested in a rational discussion about the band. That's what I try to do here. Apparently, that threatens some folks' security or something - as you see here - it invited someone to label my posts "crapfests" and suggest that this has something to do with my mental health or general state of mind.

as a matter of fact - I am planning on taking a lunchtime walk along the beautiful San Francisco waterfront in a few moments. A nice stogie to go with - some 1975 Rolling Stones!
