No Grammy for Stones this time

Well U2 won the Grammy for best rock album. Quite disappointing. IMO U2 is a good band but overrated.

I don't feel that they are a "supergroup" but thats my opinion

SO WHAT??? The Grammies are crap anyway! The Beatles, Stones, Who ,Led zep never won shit in the 60-70's when they made the best music ever! The Ramones should have won for any of their 1st 3 albums, but NOOOO we must give it to Fleetwood Mac. Bollocks I say!! oh, never mind.

Yea but it would be nice to be recognized for something other than a lifetime achievement award.

It's an EFFFIN trophy, I'm sure Kieth could really give a shit!

Even though they and others get snubbed, I think that would enjoy to be "officially" recognized by the industry. But on the other hand after so long I don't think they would admit it.

Look what it did for Santana.

The U2 album came out in 2004.Why are they even eligible this year?

The blew the voters! Well, not really, haha.

The Grammys are a joke. The people who 'vote' for them wouldn't know good music if Jimi Hendrix came back to life, walked up to them, and hit them with his guitar.

So, for the love of God, let's end this thread right now! The Grammys just aren't worthy of observation, opinion, or discussion of any kind.

They should re-name the Grammy's to "U2 awards", how the hell they can win so many and thanks to this, their sales are so high.

I keep hoping that when the Rolling Stones see their contemporaries such as U2, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan garnering praise and awards that it will inspire them to step up to the plate and make a REALLY great album...another 'Beggars Banquet/'Let It Bleed' quality album...NOT a 'A Bigger Bang'/'Some Girls' quality album.

Hope springs eternal...........

Maybe they shouldn't make another one

The reason U2's album was eligable is b/c there is a cutoff point. The eligiblity for the Grammy's isnt' January-December. It's like October-September or somethign. U2's most recent album was released in Nov. '04 so it wasn't up for anything in '05.

The reason why U2 wins is, because BONO is exposing himself has the peacemaker and meets with politicians is straight in line with everybody. The Stones do what they want

Was it just me, or was Macca increbly lame and embarassing. I like him, but it was so pandering. He sucked.

I don't care about Grammies. These days you'd better be a peacemaker ( what he is as lots of people ) than a " sweet neo-con". Nevertheless, it appears to me normal that a band that sells out stadiums within few hours be better awarded than a band that grosses more cash. Up to now. Hope the Stones with the other legs of this ABB tour prove to anyone that they can attract more audience. Hey Mick, Keith & Chawlie, c'mon.

I thought U2 would win. I don't find it strange at all. Of course i would love it if the stones had won but you can't always get what you want. U2 made a great album that was bought by a LOT of people, at least a hell of a lot more than ABB, so a lot of people like the album. Maybe not the hardcore stones but that isn't the most impartial crowd anyway ;-)

Cheers,
Wuudy

Always? In regards to Grammys, or anything that has to do with U2, Macca, et al, I am hard pressed to remember the last time we actually did get what we want, let alone always. Thankfully, I think most Stones fans don't care about these specific types of accolades.

Is Bono a better songwriter or ACTIVIST for Social Causes

I don't see why people are so pissed off at Bono for doing good things.
Hate the music or the man, but not what he does. It's ridiculous.
I think the guy has a ridiculous ego, but at least he's using it for something.

The Grammy's are a joke, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. Kelly Clarkson over Bonnie Raitt ?? PLEASE! Mariah Carey keeps on winning so what does that tell you? Black Eyes Peas won, remember they OPENED for the STONES and they win! Grammy night is a farce!

And here I always thought that what mattered was what you had achieved for the moment and not 20+ years ago...

Boy, was I wrong...

FLASHER, and your point is? That the Stones have nothing of value to offer today as opposed to 40 years ago?

Re: No Grammy for Stones this time

My point is that the ABB is great. However the times has changed and so has the music.

The Grammys is something you get for recent achievements it's not a lifetime achievement award.

Let's face it, Most american teens doesn't have a @#$%& clue who Bonnie Raitt is, sad but true.

And yes BEP opened for the Stones, does that make them ineligiable for awards?
I think it is great that they get awards that just means that Mick and the boys are right on the money choosing openers. Which lets both bands widen their fanbase.

As I said times has changed and it makes me sick seeing Paris Filthon in a Stones tee....

No wonder I hate today's music, with the exception of a handful of bands! And I DO hate BEP, they suck! I had to sit through their crap 2 nights in a row at Fenway before the Stones! It also doesn't necessarily mean the Stones love their opening bands.I agree Paris in a Stones T-shirt, makes me want to puke!
